Mass Effect Andromeda is easily the top of our most wanted RPG for 2017. Building on the success of the fantastic Dragon Age: Inquisition, Andromeda promises a massive open universe RPG set several hundred years after the events of Mass Effect 3 and far, far away from the events of that story. We’re going into uncharted territory – the worlds are huge, the combat looks frenetic and polished, and the story will hopefully carry on the legacy of the originals without the mess that was the final act of the first trilogy. We cannot wait.
There are a lot of MMOs due to come out in 2017 and even 2018. A great many of them look fantastic – Camelot Unchained, Crowfall, Ashes of Creation, Chronicles of Elyria, Bless, Pantheon, and more. But one of them, Amazon’s New World, has our interest piqued simply by being the first AAA big budget MMORPG to specifically aim at the sandbox moniker. We simply haven’t had that before – not since the Star Wars Galaxies, at least. With all that’s changed about how these games are made and what sort of experience they can deliver, we’re watching Amazon Games Studios very closely in 2017, and hope to learn a great deal more about the dark and foreboding New World.
