Mike's Thanksgiving Playlist

Once the yearly Thanksgiving ritual of consuming a ridiculous amount of food is complete, it’ll be time for a bit of gaming. I haven’t had tons of time to game lately, so I plan on taking full advantage of the extra time this weekend to work through my backlog.

Jedi Fallen Order

I’ve been too busy to play this wonderful game lately, but with some extra time to game in peace, I plan on digging in deep on what’s shaping up to be my Game of the Year. Based on what I’ve played so far, EA and Respawn have knocked it out of the park with Jedi Fallen Order, perfectly harmonizing aspects from a number of different game series from Dark Souls to Metroid Prime, all with a Star Wars twist.

It’s not the most original game in the world, sure, but it does what it does well and with a ton of aplomb. With rumors that Respawn is already working on a sequel, I’m not even done yet and I can’t wait for more. This is easily the best Star Wars game in years.

Borderlands 3

It’s been a little while since I’ve played Borderlands 3. As much as I enjoy the game, the limited bank space really killed my desire to play. I like to at least keep one of each potentially useable item in storage just in case I find a use for it later or Gearbox buffs something unexpectedly, but I ended up having to leave most things on the floor due to storage limits.

That’s all in the past now, as Gearbox recently deployed the game’s massive November patch, increasing storage space up to 300 slots, adding a new raid, new items and anointments, and another level of Mayhem difficulty, among other things. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to fit in over the weekend, but I’m definitely going to take a peek.

Red Dead Redemption 2

I have a long history of not playing this game series. When the original Red Dead Redemption came out way back in 2010, I held out waiting for Rockstar to release it on PC. As we all know, that never happened. When Red Dead Redemption 2 came out on consoles last year, I thought I might be in the same situation, but given GTA V’s popularity on PC and a steady stream of hints that this time would be different, I decided to hold out and now I can finally play this massive game. It’s going to have to wait for me to finish Jedi Fallen Order first, though. Can I finish it before the weekend’s up? We’ll see!
