Mike's Holiday Play-list

Even with the additional time the holidays often provide us, there are typically more games released than we could ever hope to play. My backlog is basically infinite at this point, so I tend to just focus on what’s ahead of me instead of trying to tackle all the stuff I bought but failed to play. And boy is it a good time for new games. Here’s what’s on my list.

Marvel Strike Force

This should come as no surprise to anyone given the fact I write about this game so much here. It’s not something I’m playing all day, every day, but it’s something I do play daily and I’m still enjoying it for the most part. Right now, I’m hoping to be able to unlock Magneto in his Legendary event later this month. I won’t have Sabretooth, so I won’t be able to put together a full Brotherhood team, but I should be able to come close.

Dragon Quest XI

I grew up playing JRPGs and they’re one of my favorite game genres to play, but I just haven’t been impressed with many since the early 2000’s. Dragon Quest XI is the first JRPG I’ve been able to enjoy in some time and I’ve spent a lot of time with it this year. I’ve just completed the main story and I’m slowly working my way through the postgame. If you’re a JRPG aficionado, don’t sleep on this one. Pick it up immediately.

Red Dead Redemption 2

I have a bit of history with this series. I waited years for RDR1 to come to PC, but it never did, and despite the fact I look like a toddler with a controller trying to play shooters on console, I’m not going to make the same mistake twice. I fully expect RDR2 to show up on PC at some point, but I’m not going to wait this time around. I’ll either have to rely on heavy auto aim or do my best without it, but I plan on playing RDR2 as soon as I’m done with DQXI.

Battlefield V

I’ve been waiting all year for Battlefield V, but alas, my PC died a few months ago and I’m still without a proper gaming rig. Once I’ve got that sorted, though, I’ll be jumping right in. Battlefield is my favorite series and even though I’m not as great a shot anymore, I still enjoy the games immensely. I’ve been waiting a long time for the series to properly return to WW2 and while I’d have liked to have seen the game launch with classic WW2 maps, the gameplay looks great. 2143 better be next, DICE!

Spider-Man DLC

Spider-Man on PS4 was the first game I’ve finished in a while and it definitely lived up to my expectations. I want to come back to it, but not until all three DLCs are out. I’ve got plenty of other things to play and I just don’t like revisiting games until all the post-launch content is available to make a second playthrough worthwhile.

What’s on your holiday play-list?
