Marvel Strike Force’s Brotherhood of Mutants: What We Know So Far

It’s a good time to be bad in Marvel Strike Force. All characters added to the game through the end of this year will be villains and on top of that, they’ll almost all be Mutants. More specifically, we’re getting the Brotherhood of Mutants.

This week, FoxNext added Mystique as the first member of the Brotherhood to roll out. A lot of Mystique’s potential is tied to Magneto, so the jury is out on her until he’s released (he’ll be the last of the Brotherhood to come out), but I’m already having fun with her. She fights in the weirdly acrobatic but cool way we’ve seen her do in the various X-Men films over the years and her kit places her in a position that could see her shake up the meta. I’m not going to get into too much detail here, since we already went through her kit recently, but the tl;dr version is that Mystique hard counters stealth characters and stealth is pretty ubiquitous in Marvel Strike Force right now.

The plan, as I understand it, is for players to collect the various Brotherhood characters over the next few months and use them to unlock Magneto in a Legendary event coming later. All we have to go on beyond Mystique right now is based on data mining, which tends to be reliable, but it is still speculation, so keep that in mind.

A couple quick notes before we jump into the various characters on the way. Brotherhood characters are said to be Global and Juggernaut will be appropriately tagged as a Mystic, not a Mutant. Thanks, FoxNext!

The next Brotherhood character to come after Mystique is said to be Pyro, a blaster who will supposedly be able to apply two stacks of DoT as an AOE, likely to be his ultimate, but possibly his special attack. Rumors suggest he’ll be unlocked through a Campaign Event requiring Blasters & Support characters.

Sabretooth is another Brotherhood character coming this year, but we don’t know a whole lot about him at this point. Rumors are that his passive will be similar to Wolverine’s, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Unlike Wolverine, we hope Sabretooth will actually be viable. Seriously FoxNext, how do you not guarantee bleeds on friggin’ Wolverine?

The unstoppable force himself, the Juggernaut, will also join the MSF roster later this year as a Brotherhood member. We’ve heard that he’ll be a Mystic and he’ll be the last character to come out before Magneto. Rumors suggest he’ll be immune to stuns and he’ll gain speed up or turn meter when attacked. Juggy’s campaign event will supposedly require a Mystic team, so if you’re like me and you’ve been lagging behind on the Mystic campaign, now’s a great time to start working on putting together a crack team.

Finally, there’s Magneto. We know for certain he’ll be unlocked via a Legendary event requiring the other Brotherhood characters to complete. Speculation on his kit suggests he’ll be able to pull off an AoE blind that will make all enemies adjacent to each other, which sounds pretty nasty.

Personally, I couldn’t be happier with what I’ve learned so far and I’m looking forward to putting together a Brotherhood team with Magneto. I tend to like the bad guys in comics and I’m particularly fond of Magneto for many reasons, so the announcement that I’ll be able to put together a full Mutant villain team so soon has me super excited.
