Marvel Heroes Team Ups We'd Like to See

Earlier this year Gazillion added a follower system to Marvel Heroes called “Team Ups”. Unlike generic followers you might find in other games, Marvel Heroes’ version uses notable Marvel characters, some of which may be better suited to a role like this versus as a full-blown playable character.

Gazillion also has a 2014 Team Up Advance Pack for sale that allows players to pre-purchase the main slate of team-ups coming this year so we more or less know which team-ups we’ll be able to acquire this year (aside from surprises, of course). With that in mind, I’d like to share a couple of team-ups I’d like to see Gaz add to Marvel Heroes in the future. Feel free to share your own shortlist in the comments.

Sif

Like most of these I’ll be listing today, I’d love to see Sif as a fully playable character, but if there were any notable characters that would be a shoe-in as a team-up hero, one would have to be Lady Sif. Let’s be honest, her kit would probably be pretty basic as a full hero in terms of gameplay and visual effects, but she’s still a great character that would be fun to have as a companion for Thor – or perhaps even Loki.

Agent Coulson/Hill

Agent Coulson with a Maria Hill enhanced costume (a suggestion by Gaz themselves) would be great for those playing Avengers characters. Clark Gregg really embraces the Coulson character and I can see Coulson being a supremely entertaining team-up, if nothing else. There’s no way his voiceover would be anything less than incredible. For the more serious types, Maria Hill would be a sufficiently crabby alternative.

War Machine

Ol' Rhodey just wouldn’t be well served as a mere enhanced costume for Iron Man, so if he may be a while before we see him as a playable hero, why not put him in as a team-up first? From a gameplay point of view, I could see his additional utility focused on spirit restoration, filling a niche that we haven’t seen yet from existing team-up options.

Black Cat

Another character with plenty of overlap in existing hero kits; there are just way too many agile melee characters and Felicia’s kit wouldn’t really do a whole lot to set itself apart. Not that I wouldn’t love to see Black Cat playable, I just think she’d make a better companion, at least for now. With a bleed heavy kit, she could be a great source of additional DPS that’s always ticking.

Rescue

This is a bit of an odd one in that I don’t actually care for this character much at all. Pepper Potts is all right, I suppose, but Rescue doesn’t do a whole lot for me. It also doesn’t help I found her incredibly annoying to fight in Marvel Avengers Alliance’s PvP mode. That said, Rescue is a character that I feel doesn’t really fit in Marvel Heroes as a playable character at all. Rescue is a purely supportive character, which goes against Gazillion’s self-sufficient character philosophy in Marvel Heroes. She’s simply better suited as a team-up. We haven’t seen any pure support team-ups just yet, so she would be a perfect fit in this space. Shields, heals, maybe even a passive resurrect on a timer, these would all be great power options for Rescue.
