Som Pourfarzaneh : Looking Ahead to E3

Looking Ahead to E3

E3 is one of my favorite shows, and although developer announcements seem to be happening earlier and earlier each year in anticipation of the conference (I’m looking at you, Fallout 4 and new Xbox One SKU), it’s still an exciting time to get an advanced look at what’s coming down the pipe for MMOs and RPGs.

With this year’s MMO lineup shaping up nicely, there are a number of titles that have piqued my interest.  I haven’t touched Guild Wars 2’s beta tests for Heart of Thorns, and am excited to see what’s in the works for ArenaNet’s new expansion.  Carbine Studios should have an interesting presence with the recent news of WildStar going free to play, and I’m always up for checking on Portalarium’s progress with Shroud of the Avatar.  Furthermore, while I’m not holding my breath for more details on EverQuest Next just yet, I’d love to see even an inkling of information from Daybreak Game Company about what’s happening with their new installment.

On the RPG front, I can’t hide my excitement that Sword Coast Legends now has a PC release date, and will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 besides.  If n-Space and Digital Extremes let me get my grubby hands on it at E3, you’ll be the first to know.  Additionally, I loved Fallout 3 and am really looking forward to seeing if Bethesda has put together a comprehensive E3 preview for Fallout 4.  Don’t worry - I’ll be sure to let them know that there’s still interest in a Fallout MMO!

There’s a ton of other stuff for which we stand to get some more goodies, including Destiny, Final Fantasy XIV, Heroes of the Storm, and maybe, just maybe, Ubisoft’s elusive MMO The Division.  I’m also hopeful that Zenimax and Bethesda will have something to say about The Elder Scrolls Online’s recent console launch and future updates.  It’s hard to say just how much, if any, we’ll see of these games, but here’s hoping that the developers have a good show planned for us.

And as ridiculous as it might sound, I’m pulling for a Wii U price cut.  I really want one of those things!

E3 this year looks to be as promising as ever.  What games are you most looking forward to learning more about?
