Yes, it's April 1st again and it's time to round up all of the nifty jokes that game developers have posted around the web. It may be Sunday but those hard working men and women never rest. See what's new for 2018. We'll keep updating this through the day so check back from time to time!
Did we miss one? Post it in the comments!
Black Desert Online is known for its beautifully designed large open world in which players can role-play, discover new lands and overcome challenges. It is the goal of Pearl Abyss to incorporate these features in a real-life theme park and make the experience as engaging and mystifying as it is in-game.
Based on community feedback, we are announcing that we have abandoned the Action RPG genre to focus on what players really want. Path of Exile is being replaced by PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE, a 100-person free-for-all battle royale game. PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE is live right now. Just run the old Path of Exile game client and it will update to PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE.
We want to tailor EVE for each individual player to give the best experience possible, and we recognise that while you may use the same ships as your friends, sometimes having the same bonuses and slot layouts just doesn’t make sense, and can inhibit true sandbox gameplay.
Everything from slot and hardpoint layout to physical sizes and colors of vessels will be customized to fit each individual player
New Feature: Appear Online With this patch, we’ve added full support for players who wish to appear online at all times. Now, when you log out of World of Warcraft, you’ll still appear to be online farming random battlegrounds or dungeons. We really hope you enjoy this highly-requested new layer of confusion being added to your personal relationships. New Loot Type: Impersonal Loot When you select this option, loot will be practically thrown at you. It’s not even placed nicely on the boss’s body or in a chest or something. It’s just flung in your direction. Those gloves almost hit your face just now! Ugh!
What makes a game icon memorable? The Neverwinter Memory Game utilizes one of the most iconic outputs of UI artists: game icons. *Purchase this product by light of midnight and we’ll include a special icon to encourage fellow Developers to get UI art requests in on time!
With Grand Battle Royale, we wanted to give you a fun surprise, while staying laser-focused on evolving the core game. That’s why we worked after hours to bring you this mode and it didn’t go through the usual optimization process. Please keep this in mind and don't treat this as a final polished setup.
Playing it might prove to be a more unstable experience than usual and hardware requirements are little higher, but we can promise one thing — it’ll be fun!
The app will allow you to go outside in the real world and gather popotos, lightning shards, and any other materials detected near you! When you log back into FFXIV, you'll have everything you harvested waiting in your inventory. Going for a jog, walking your dog, or heading to school will never be the same again! The good news doesn't end there, as we're also proud to announce we'll soon be releasing the GO Harvesting Stick® peripheral!
Experience Pokémon GO like never before with cutting-edge 8-BIT GRAPHICS! Registering approximately twice the definition of 4K, the chunky squares of each pixel provide realistic detail and unbelievable definition. Your Pokédex will feel lifelike in ways previously unimagined on any handheld device ever created.
In clashes between three of the major military powers of the 21st century, players will battle against each other in combat in the some of the world’s most powerful nuclear submarines. The three dimensional depths of the ocean, realistic physics and modern strategic weaponry will become available this weekend! All players will be able to take part in the initial first test.
Nothing reveals more of the soul's deepest truths than a gimmicky quiz you take on the internet. Learn which World of Warships cruiser most reflects your personality, then share the results with your friends. They can take the quiz themselves and learn more about this cool naval warfare game you're into.
With the popularity of micro-holidays like Call of the Scarab and the Kirin Tor Tavern Crawl, we’ve decided to add more small vacations to the pint-sized getaways we call micro-holidays. From now on, almost every day in WoW will present an opportunity to celebrate a thing, earn a thing, win a thing, or accept a task to run around gathering things with the reward of getting other, different things!
Introducing Dark Age of Camelot: Legion...
Feeling lonely today? Well now you can equip this amazing, new Ball-N-Chain Mount to make sure life is never a drag! After all, it could just be that no one’s noticing you on your current, sleek and speedy mount, so why not take life at a slower pace (-60% speed) and maybe you’ll draw the attention of a few passer’s by? Then again, you are taken...the ol’ Ball-N-Chain is all you’ll ever need in this life...till death do you part!
ArenaNet is thrilled to announce that players are now able to sit in chairs across the continent for the second time in Guild Wars history, proving that even the wildest dreams do in fact come true! We're talking about over 1,400 chairs spread across 6 cities, 5 home instances and 1 raid lobby.
But wait! There's more!
The future of chair sitting is a bright one and ArenaNet is working hard to:
- Investigate chair sittability (yes, you read that correctly!) for other zones;
- Figure out the bar booths built entirely out of non-chair objects; and
- Support more chair models
Via ianicus and DijonCyanide on the forum: not sure if its been said, in STO there are new "Artisanal Audio" effects for the UI (opening and closing windows etc) pretty funny stuff, best ones are when clicking on the red alert from sector space haha
For Star Trek Online Cryptic has brought back the Artisanal Audio function again.
Optional of course at the click of a button for those non-fans.
Via Mendel on the forum: EQ1 changed the system font for everything in game. It's a cutesy font that looks a bit cursive. That really doesn't work for buttons and menus. Worse yet, any changes made to the chat windows reverts back to the default system font every time the character zones or logs out. It's a bit annoying for anyone with visual issues.
Via fs23otm on the forum: Rift .... There is no fall damage in game anymore.... except today the Devs turned it back on.
A lot of deaths going down lol...
Due to popular demand, we are introducing an exciting new gameplay system known as Paramour Levels. Using this endlessly scaling end-game mechanic, players can now romantically pursue NPCs all across Cairn and create formidable relationships that can overcome an apocalypse and last a lifetime.
