Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, The Cycle bites the dust while Fractured Online tries to stoke the flames with a free-play weekend, Broken Ranks holds TaernCon 2023, and the City of Titans’ developers poke their heads up to say hi. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

BitCraft

Oh, BitCraft, how I used to like you until you used the word ‘drip’ in your tweet this week. But hey, you won me back by not showing another campfire, so there’s that. Now, how about you unmask some actual gameplay footage?

Broken Ranks

Patch 6.29 is live, and the changelog details the gear overhaul and additional difficulty levels for instances and loot. And by the time you read this, TaernCon 2023 will have come and gone. I’m sure we’ll have a recap of the event in next week’s IMS.

City of Titans

A new update on the CoT site provides an update on what the team has been working on. There’s a new launcher, a bunch of combat changes, and…corn?

Corepunk

If you didn’t get a chance to check out Corepunk during the Steam Next Fest, the team has posted videos of their current live streams on YouTube.

The Cycle: Frontier

It appears that the last drop to Fortuna III will happen in September. That's right, The Cycle: Frontier will sunset on September 27th. According to the devs, the game is no longer financially viable due to a loss of players since launch. The dev attribute the decline in player base to rampant cheating at launch, while many gamers say the game was doomed when it changed direction during development and went from a team-focused shooter to yet another run-of-the-mill battle royale.

Dragon and Home

Update 1.0.38 is live, and it’s time to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival! The event will run through July 9th.

Dual Universe

Dual Universe subscriptions are 20% off during the Steam Summer Sale. The discount is good on Steam as well as directly through the DU website.

Ember Sword

Ember Sword will be holding an Ask Me Anything on Friday, July 7, at 9am. The stream will be viewable on Ember Sword’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore

An expected patch containing many of the updates listed in the recent roadmap will be pushed until next week. Reason - dev availability over the weekend to fix any unexpected issues. While possibly disappointing for some, I think the transparency is refreshing.

Fractured Online

Fractured Online is currently holding a free-play event. The event runs through today, July 2nd, so you may still have time to download the client and check the game out.

Genfanad

Genfanad is looking for a community manager/marketing freelancer. You can find the details of the job here.

Gloria Victis

Update 365 is full of minor tweaks and adjustments.

Mad World

Mad World’s final June update is live. The patch notes include faster pet movement speed, increased XP, and several other quality-of-life improvements.

Palia

All of the invites for the upcoming stress test have been sent, so check your spam folder if you haven’t seen an invite yet.

Project Gorgon

The update notes for Thursday’s update have been posted and are full of changes to so many systems I’m not even going to mention them. You’ll have to read the patch notes for yourself.

Prosperous Universe

Development Log #392 covers the upcoming changes to the company rating system.

Ravendawn

The Ravendawn team has posted a new devblog to discuss the attribute softcap system.

Tatsumeeko

You can check out the weekly Tatsumeeko devblog here.

Villagers & Heroes

Patch 5.4.0 went live this week, bringing with it Season 6 of Raids: Dark Tides.
