Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, it’s all about Halloween in the Indie MMO Universe. Multiple indie MMOs will be holding events to celebrate the holiday, and just in case that isn’t enough of a treat, I also put together a Halloween event guide that covers the major MMOs (shameless plug). In addition to holiday events, Foxhole heads to the seas, Ember Sword goes deep, and Palia opened up dedicated EU servers. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

If you are interested in exactly how Ember Sword’s new engine could affect the MMORPG genre, check out Steven’s interview with Joris Huijbregts, Chief Development Officer and one of the founders of Bright Start Studio.

Fractured Online
November 8th will be the day that Fractured Online returns to Steam. The blog post with the announcement says the team had to rebuild a large piece of the backend while they continued to improve many aspects of the MMO as they prepared for the return. It also states that they have all been working unpaid for several months. It seems they are wearing this as a badge of honor to show their dedication to the project, but I see the lack of funds as a grim omen to the future of Fractured Online.
Genfanad
Genfanad takes a look back at the progress the team made during the month of October in their latest blog post.
Havenhold
Havenhold was the topic of the Developer Spotlight on the r/mmorpg subreddit this week.
Hordes.io
If you want to check out the next build for Hordes.io, you can sign up for the PTR Test that will be held on November 4th.
Micro Devlog TimePTR Test will run on Nov 4th, sign up if you wanna join :)Mainly spent time on the spell engine, most of these bugs related to obscure rules for parsing order of spell interactions (e.g. buff queued entity while alive, dies in same frame, buffs added after… pic.twitter.com/VRyt7ww74k
