Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, The Cycle starts Season 3, Ravendawn enters Open Beta, and Foxhole is getting a medieval sibling. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
Aether Story
Aether Story currently has two special events running. First, there’s an April Fool’s Event running through April 8th. A curse has fallen on the land, and you’ll need to find Xnaph and help him reverse the curse to earn a special reward. Second, Easter 2023 is now live. The Easter event will run through April 30th. Along with previous Easter activities, this year, you can fight the holiday boss, Todd, collect eggs, and unlock several cosmetics. The Change List is pretty long, with the new fishing feature being the highlight of the patch.
Book of Travels
Update 0.31.2 went live on Friday.
Broken Ranks
There have been a lot of questions about the upcoming gear reform, so the devs have created a Gear Reform FAQ. Another blog entry posted on Friday gives an overview of all of the changes coming in Tuesday’s update.
Cinderstone Online
With the Valentine’s Day event finally running its course, The Great Lizardmarch Event was held Friday and Saturday. Pro tip - if you want players to enjoy your events, give them more than five minutes notice, or at least run the event for a full week so they have a chance to log in before it’s open.
The Cycle: Frontier
Season 3 is now live and the patch notes are full of major changes. In addition to a fresh round of Twitch Drops that runs through April 9th, players can pick up the Fresh Fortunes Pack for free on Steam and EGS.
Embers Adrift
Along with the mention of a free-play weekend in the near future, Stormhaven Studios’ latest entry in their State of the Game Blog covers the next major update, The Forgotten Depths. The Forgotten Depths update will contain new quests and feature a new dungeon of the same name. Set to release in three phases, the first phase will be for characters level 28+.
Foxhole
If the early 20th Century action in Foxhole feels a little too modern for your warring tastes, Siege camp announced Anvil Empires this week. You can find out all about the medieval warfare MMO in its first Dev Blog post on Steam. You can follow Anvil Empires on Discord, and starting next week, Anvil Emipres will have its own spot on the IMS.
Genfanad
Genfanad’s weekly patch brings more mithril recipes and the new quest, Where Food is Born.
Gloria Victis
Along with their weekly notes for Update 355, a second blog post served up some info on more long-term updates that are in the works.
Mad World
It was finally announced that Mad World will officially launch on April 27th! Founders Packs are available that grant three and five-day early access. In the lead-up to the launch, the Mad World website has been updated with several new pages. Anyone wanting a head start on planning their character will want to check out the Game Guide, while those interested in the lore behind the game will want to check out the Chronicles.
Monsters & Memories
Originally targeted for the end of March, the M&M public stress test will now be held April 28-29. Each day will have a four-hour session, with specific times to be announced as soon as details are nailed down.
Nightingale
Nightingale’s first always-on playtest took place March 15-17. If, like me, you weren’t part of the test, you can read a summary of the event in a new blog post.
