Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, naval warfare is coming to Foxhole, Ultimate Legends terrorize Fractured Online (image above), and Ship of Heroes puts some pressure on rival City of Titans by announcing a demo for the upcoming Steam Next Fest. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

BitCraft

Autumn comes to BitCraft in this week’s Twitter post.

Broken Ranks

Forefathers’ Eve is returning to Broken Ranks. The annual event will run from November 3rd and 4th. In the meantime, a new event will spin up on October 13th to keep everyone busy. Starting at 3AM EST on the 13th, the Wreaker of Havoc will appear on all servers. After completing the introductory quest, “I Came in Like a Wreaking Ball,” the Wreaker will provide some special services, though there may be some strings attached.

Corepunk

For those of you who weren’t one of the very select few who were invited to Corepunk’s first player test, Artificial Core posted a dev blog recapping the event. The post also teased another test coming before the end of the month.

Dreamworld

The Dreamworld website received a makeover this week. The site refresh is part of a wider marketing push that includes a new logo and a relaunch of the team’s social media profiles. The refresh comes after teasing a new direction for the MMO for the last several months, though an exact date for the release of the new map and art style has not been posted.

Ember Sword

The last IMX migration window is now open. Anyone with assets still on the Polygon chain will have until November 30, 2023 to transfer to the Immutable X platform.

It was also announced that Ember Sword’s next open playtest would run from October 27th through the 29th. The playtest will feature a new co-op dungeon, The Ultra Deep

Embers Adrift

Embers Adrift will be one year old on October 15th. To celebrate the occasion, a free play event will be held from October 13th through November 5th.

Foxhole

Naval Warfare is coming to Foxhole. New water regions will give combatants a new area to attack and defend, with multiple ship classes, offshore resources, and sea-based coastal invasions. For the landlubbers out there, the update will also have new truck classes, vehicle towing, and more. You can get a quick recap in the announcement trailer below, or get a detailed view of the update from the Devstream held earlier this week.

Fractured Online

Fractured Online saw a flurry of patches this week. The first patch (b.0.8d) resolved some major bugs, followed by the introduction of Imbued Proficiencies in patch b.0.8e. The final patch of the week, b.0.8e, landed on Friday. Included in the patch is the ability to transport a cart or wagon when switching worlds and the arrival of the first two Ultimate Legends.

Genfanad

In Genfanad’s September Update, we get a recap of the work done on The Contest of Gimmicks update, as well as a sneak peek at the new card battle UI.

Havenhold

The last round of invites to Havenhold’s Alpha 0 Playtest was sent out this week. Check your spam folder just in case you signed up and didn’t get an invite.

Ilysia

Team 21 Studios announced that they were targeting an Early Access launch for later this month. The test will include new zones, new races to choose from, and a new starting area with a brand-new tutorial. To whet your whistle, several screenshots were posted to Ilysia’s Discord Channel.

Into the Echo

To answer one of the most common questions submitted to the team, a new blog post dives into the topic of eras and time travel in Into the Echo

Mist Legacy

It has been two years since Mist Legacy first entered Early Access and then full release. The devs made a quick post on the Mist Legacy Steam page to give an update on where the MMO sits currently.

Monsters & Memories

I double-checked, and there hasn’t been any major news out of the M&M camp since August. The team does post development videos to the M&M YouTube channel if you are interested in that type of thing.

Nightingale

Nightingale has a new YouTube Short featuring another Estates housing set. This time around, we get a quick look at the Desert set with an estate that looks like it is built directly into the rocky landscape.

Profane

INSANE announced that they would be bringing a playable version of Profane to the Brasil Game Show 2023. The BGS will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from October 11th to the 15th. It was also announced that Profane testing will be returning, starting with a Brazilian test on October 18th, followed by an NA test on October 25th.

Project F4E

Project F4E’s latest playtest is now underway. The test runs through Monday, October 9th, and you can still grab a key if you haven’t done so already.

Prosperous Universe

Be sure to check out Development Log #404 to catch up on the progress being made on the German translation of Prosperous Universe.

Ravendawn

Attention all software engineers! Ravendawn currently has an opening for a Software Developer.

Realm of the Mad God

There’s a new event coming to RotMG. The Coins of Courage event began on October 3rd, and will run through October 17th when it will be replaced by this year’s Halloween event.

Ship of Heroes

Ship of Heroes has announced that it will have a playable demo available during Steam Next Fest. Next Fest runs October 9th through the 16th. The demo will include the character creator plus the never-seen-before Sword Blossom arc.

Tatsumeeko

Tatsumeeko’s monthly dev update was posted this week. Patch 0.84 features the Phantom Feast 2023 Mini-Event, showcases the new Phantom Feast-themed furniture, and new walk items.

Villagers & Heroes

The Haunted Moors is back! This year’s event features two new mounts, new outfits, and more.

Wild Terra 2: New Lands

A new cosmetic in-game shop has been launched for Wild Terra 2.

Zenith: The Last City

Patch 1.4 is now in Open Beta. The Might and Mastery patch features a brand new skill tree system, leaderboards, and general improvements to the current content. A new video was also posted, revealing the new raid boss, Sae Jiko and the Citadel Arena.
