Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, the IMS is full of 2024 recaps, Fractured Online paints a bleak picture, and Broken Ranks recognizes the pillars of its community. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

Broken Ranks

We mentioned Broken Ranks’ new community reward program, Pillars of Community, a couple of weeks ago, and now they have chosen their first two recipients on the Broken Ranks Discord. @Zalla and @Jezu have been chosen as this month’s Pillars of Community, and will receive a three-month special rank (@Pillar of Community) on the channel along with 3 months of premium account for free. Congratulations!

City of Titans

CoT posted its 2024 Development Roundup this week. The video is a collection of testing videos and is narrated by PenitentRebel.

Elethor

A new post on the Elethor Discord discusses another new feature coming with the NEO update, the Swarm update. The next version of Swarm will move away from using your current gear to determine kills and rewards, instead using the “Power” system.

Embers Adrift

The December Patch has been deployed, and the servers were reopened on Tuesday. The patch notes are light on new content - there are some new raid bosses - and are more focused on QoL upgrades and bug fixes.

Eterspire

Eterspire v42.1 has been released on Android and iOS.

Fractured Online

A new post on Discord serves as a Year-End Update. The update paints a bleak picture for the MMO, which hasn’t performed as expected even after going free-to-play. Due to budget issues, the staff has been cut down from seven team members to just the original three founders, all working unpaid.

Grimrain

The next playtest will run February 8-10. The test will include the starting zone and part of the second zone, six classes, crafting, and multiple dungeons.

Open Perpetuum Project

With Patch 33 complete, the dev team took to Discord to discuss some of the changes that will be coming in 2025 and Patch 34.

Palia

Palia is kicking off the new year with another login reward. Log in any time before January 20 to receive a pile of collectibles.

Ravendawn

mobile version of Ravendawn is coming, and a client stress test will be held January 16-17. The mobile version will include the full Ravendawn experience and will have its own HUD and UI customized for mobile.

Scars of Honor

new Discord post recaps the team’s 2024 efforts and also takes a peek at what’s to come in 2025. Plans include new test phases, additional races and classes, combat updates, and more.

Screeps

Screeps Arena update 0.2.1 went live this week. The patch notes include a new global function that invokes garbage collection, a series of 20 games, and other changes.

Villagers & Heroes

The 12 Days of Christmas event is over, and reward totals have been posted.
