Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. Even as Halloween invades a dying MMO genre, indie devs are working hard to breathe new life into the genre. Fractured Online is going free-to-play, Once Human starts a new season, and Nightingale opens up a public test server. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
Cyborg Immortal
Cyborg Immortal was officially launched on iPhone for select regions, including the US and the UK.
Farwoods
Along with a long list of fixes, Ink and the Inkwell were added into Farwoods to support the Papercraft (formerly Writing) skill. Anyone can now write without a skill check as long as they are not illiterate, though you can still have errors when writing in foreign languages.
Fractured Online
It was announced that Fractured Online will move to a free-to-play and seasonal model. The exact date is still undecided, but the change will coincide with the start of Season 1. Seasons will last for three months and will combine elements of personal and guild progression.
Loftia
Devlog 9 was posted this week. The post covers farming, salvaging, and new airtram stations.
Nightingale
Players have been given access to the next update through a Public Test Realm (PTR). The PTR can be accessed through the Steam Beta Branch system.
Once Human
Way of Winter servers opened up on Thursday. The new Team Up to Survive event is also underway and will run through November 30th. Complete the list of challenges to earn rewards, including 1000 Starchroms and Morphed Deviations.
Palia
The Fall Flourishes Update will go live on October 22nd.
Past Fate
Open Alpha Week is underway and runs through October 21st. The demo is available on Past Fate’s Steam page.
Profane
What role will boats play in Profane? Great question. Here’s the answer.
Prosperous Universe
It may have been later than usual, but Michi was still able to bring us Development Log #455.
Ravendawn
Get ready for Halloween in Ravendawn with the arrival of patch 2.0.3. The event will have two Halloween house decorations and exclusive titles to earn.
Realm of the Mad God
RotMG’s Halloween event is underway. As part of Update 5.2.1.0.0, the event has a huge list of rewards for completing all-new Halloween missions.
Scars of Honor
During the Dev Livestream on Friday, the SoH team previewed some of the new features that would be part of the next test session that is set to begin on October 26th.
