Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, we get a blast of monthly dev updates, VRMMOs are headed to PSVR2, and the last MMO you’ll ever play (or is it just a scam?) gets added to our list. There’s plenty of other stuff going on as well, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

BitCraft

Another week, another Twitter vignette giving us a glimpse at one game mechanic or another. Please, Clockwork Labs, start giving us something of substance!

Cinderstone Online

The Chapter 2 update, which was originally scheduled to release on the 4th, has been delayed. The announcement gave a quick rundown of all of the changes being implemented with the patch, but the one thing missing was a new release date.

City of Titans

According to a new dev blog this week, City of Titans is upgrading to Unreal Engine 5. While work continues converting the city to UE5, players can now check out the UE5 version of the Island test environment.

The Cycle: Frontier

A small patch deployed on October 31st raised the default inventory slot limit from 85 to the intended 90. The devs called it a Halloween treat. Don’t let them trick you into believing that something finally working as intended should be considered a treat.

Dreamworld

After coming across sandbox MMO Dreamworld a while back, I hesitated to add it to this column. After doing some research on the controversy surrounding this project (some content creators allege it’s a scam), I have decided to include it going forward. Is Dreamworld really the last MMO you’ll ever play, or is it just another scam? I’ll let you decide.

Elethor

A new patch was released this week (v30), bringing T10 to Elethor.

Ember Sword

Ember Sword’s migration from the Polygon network to Immutable X has been ongoing since May. It was announced this week that migration will now be available starting on the first Monday of each month and will remain open for 7 days. The decision to limit the timeframe for migration instead of keeping it open 24/7 is to reduce the risk of hacking attempts.

Embers Adrift

Embers Adrift’s monthly newsletter hit my inbox this week. With the official launch of Embers Adrift last month, the team spent most of their time working on server stability and bug fixes. The team also added some new dungeons and held a Halloween streamer marathon.

Foxhole

It has been just over a month since Foxhole’s official release, and a couple of servers started a new war this week. Charlie server started War 2 on Friday, followed by Able War 97 beginning on Saturday afternoon. Who won the first wars of update 50? The Colonials claimed victory on Able server, the Wardens finished on top on Charlie server, and the battle still rages on for Baker server.

Gloria Victis

Weekly Update 340 is somewhat uneventful. There weren’t any major changes, but three new lore sets were added and some quests were rebalanced to make them a little easier to complete.

Ilysia

Ilysia’s October dev blog was published this week. In preparation for Beta 1, the team has been working on graphical changes that add more detail to the characters and the environment.

Monsters & Memories

A new month means another update from the dev team. And since the Septembers blog was their two-year retrospective, this update is loaded with two months of concept art, a game design Q&A, and double the tech updates of a regular post.

Nightingale

Nightingale’s first Dev Update was posted this week. Community Manager Steph takes the reigns and talks about Alpha testing, followed by  Nick (Technical Art Director) and Noel (Environmental Director) talking about how Unreal 5 will impact Nightingale. Director of Production Leah Summers then takes time to answer community questions about character progression, creature difficulty, and more.

Open Perpetuum Project

The community is trying to get a 3v3 double-elimination tournament set up for December. Head over to the OPP Discord to get involved.

Profane

A new video revisits armor design and covers the ways to gear up in Profane.

Project F4E

The new Prologue Season Friends & Wardens began on Thursday. If you still don’t have a Steam key for Project F4E, you can still get one on the official site.

Prosperous Universe

Development Log #359 is dedicated to the team putting together the goodie bags that is part of any supporter pack at Star-level or above. Nick also set up a poll for the Name THAT Planet Round 7, so be sure to get your vote in before it closes.

Tatsumeeko

The Tatsumeeko Weekly Devblog covers new Cyberpunk-themed furniture, new store pet cosmetics, and the November supporter rewards.

A Township Tale

The Climbing Update (0.1.4) is now live. The update adds climbing to the Quest version of ATT, and updates the PC version of the climbing tower.

Wild Terra 2: New Lands

With Wild Terra 2 releasing November 10th (November 8th for pack owners), a new trailer video surfaced this week. The Bard, Lord of Pain, and Dragon Tamer editions are also 25% off until release.

Zenith: The Last City

RamenVR officially announced that Zenith would be coming to PS VR2 as a launch day title. Preorders start November 15th, and the PSVR2 is expected to launch in February 2023.
