Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, Project Gorgon runs out of money, DreamWorld (image above) announces Alpha 2 is coming next year, and The Wagadu Chronicles prepares for Early Access. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

BitCraft

BitCraft tweeted out a video of ore gathering and guess what, it looks just like every other game out there. I was very excited when I first came across BitCraft, but until we get some substantial in-game footage, my hype meter will continue to go down.

Corepunk

It’s always awesome to see Corepunk in the IMS, and this week we got a blog post with the second test recap

DreamWorld

DreamWorld announced that the Alpha 2 is coming in 2024. Signups are now open, and the Alpha 2 test will be free to play. Anyone who previously paid for the game can receive a refund or convert their purchase to a founders pack. It should be interesting to see what the naysayers for the project come up with now.

Dual Universe

A new Novean Challenge premiered on Thursday. The challenge pits six DU streamers against each other as they compete against each other to complete five weekly challenges.

Ember Sword

Ember Sword saw 42,000 players attempt to conquer the Ultra Deep during the recent playtest held at the end of October. Of the 1,300 teams that made it to the final confrontation against Shauk, only 460 teams were able to take the boss down.

Fractured Online

Fractured Online has officially relaunched on Steam, and the patch notes for the update include a wide array of additions and fixes. The notes also clarify the roles and powers granted to Game Masters and Mods. Fractured Online is currently running a 20% off promotion that encompasses both Steam and Founder Packs on the FO site.

Genfanad

Genfanad’s weekly blog post is all about how the team is reworking dungeons to make them more interesting in The Contest of Gimmicks update.

Ilysia

A new Early Access trailer was released this week. You can check it out below.

Life is Feudal: MMO

You can take a look at what the resurrected Life is Feudal: MMO has to offer in a sponsored article on MMORPG this week, including a 7-day free trial.

Monsters & Memories

Update 36: October 2023 was posted this week. The dev update marks December 9th and 10th as the dates for the upcoming playtest. The update also mentions a new team member, the r/MMORPG developer spotlight, and the usual concept art and technical progress made throughout the month.

Palia

Patch 0.172 went live this week, bringing new character customization options, rummage piles, Star Stones, and housing updates.

Project Gorgon

It may be a little late, but the November 10th update for Project Gorgon brings Halloween, a new dungeon, and plenty of upgrades and fixes. Unfortunately, a forum post notes that the team has run out of money, causing them to reduce staff, essentially halting progress on any new content.

Prosperous Universe

Check out Development Log #409 to see Michi’s work on multiple screens for the context switch feature.

Realm of the Mad God

Halloween is out and Season 9, A Wicked Myth: Myths and Legends, is now live after the 4.0.4.0 patch

Scars of Honor

Beast Burst Entertainment hosted MMORPG content creators Callum Upton and MMOByte at their offices this week. You can watch a video of their visit below.

Ship of Heroes

HGC has been evaluating all the comments gathered from the last Ship of Heroes test, and the team has used the feedback to refine the tab targeting used in the game.

Valorbound

A long post on the Valorbound Discord delves into hair styles and Valorbound’s gameplay loop.

The Wagadu Chronicles

Twin Drums has finally announced that The Wagadu Chronicles will enter Early Access on December 4th. You can wishlist the Afrofantasy MMO on Steam now.
