Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, several of the lesser heard devs poke their heads up to say a few words, while the more common entries have videos full of blah blah blah. And although there are a couple of upcoming tests, it seems the Alpha and Beta craze from the first half of the year has died down. Anyway, there’s still plenty of other stuff going on as well, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
Adventure Land
It has been almost a year since the last Week In Review post on Steam, but I just noticed new posts each of the last three weeks. Along with some backend changes, Adventure Land has an updated day/night cycle, and there has been some work done on lights and how the nighttime is rendered.
Aether Story
A couple of recent tweets have announced some upcoming changes to Aether Story. First, the most requested feature, a Friends List, will be added later this month. And second, changes are coming to Amberfall Mines. A new piece of loot will drop each time you run the story mode dungeon and defeat Briggs.
Have you defeated Briggs yet in #AetherStory ? Changes are coming soon to the Story Mode dungeon: A new piece of loot will drop each time you run the Story Mode. Get ready!#retro #pixelart #rpg #mmo #mmorpg #retro #Indiegamedev #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev pic.twitter.com/U7DuuArUEM

Book of Travels
It looks like the devs are tinkering with accessibility options for BoT and asking for player input. In a message on Discord, MaD_Oliver asks for input from colorblind Travellers on any areas or UI aspects they have trouble with.
Chimeraland
The first Dragon-shaped Evolved Pet will arrive in Chimeraland with the August 18 update. The Mamba has dragon blood coursing through its veins, allowing it to be evolved into the Noble Serpent.
The Cycle: Frontier
Patch 1.4.0 went live on Wednesday. The patch includes bug fixes, balance tweaks, and anti-cheat improvements. Why can’t people just play fair and let the devs work on improving the game?
Dual Universe
Novaquark released a video this week to announce their decision to wipe their servers at launch. The video was followed by a note from the director with more information on the reset, and there will be a special Ask Aphelia Episode on Monday, August 15th, to answer player questions on the topic.
Ember Sword
The Ember Sword asset migration to IMX will resume on August 15th and run through September 1st. You can get more information about the migration on the Ember Sword Discord channel or through their migration guide.
Fractured Online
In his latest Dev Diary video, CEO Jacopo Pietro Gallelli talks about cities, balance, conquests, and much more. Chapter Eight of the Council of Elysium was also streamed live on the gamigogames Twitch channel.
Gloria Victis
It’s another week of QoL updates and bug fixes with Weekly Update 329 since work still isn’t finished on the world map update.
Legends of Aria
The Aria Gen0 Character NFT sale starts on Thursday, August 18th, at 11am EST. Only 250 of the limited-run NFTs are available if you are interested, so be sure to prepare your funds.
Mist Legacy
There will be a new shop event will begin sometime next week. The exact day wasn’t announced, so be sure to check the Mist Legacy Steam page for more details.
Nightingale
We got an update on the co-op survival game Nightingale’s Early Access release this week, and it isn’t good news. According to a Twitter post, the release has been postponed to the first half of 2023 in order to give the team more time to “make key improvements, bolster content and polish gameplay.”
