Five Essential Legion AddOns

One of the most prolific World of Warcraft cottage industries is the addon community that creates mods to assist players with various aspects of the game. We've come up with a list of five essential addons for PvE players in Legion, as well as tossed in a few others that are good for general Azerothian exploration.

In no particular order...

World Quests List

World Quests List is a mini-map addon that allows you to display the regional map with a list of all available world quests that can then be sorted by faction, type (AP, order resources, gear etc.), location, time remaining, and distance to the quest. It has been constantly updated and now also includes all three Argus zones.

Handy Notes: Legion & Argus

Handy Notes has been a relatively standard addon for several expansions now and it's just as valuable in Legion. It allows players to see the locations of treasures found throughout the Broken Isles and on Argus to make collecting them a lot easier. It also includes items dropped by rares. Once a chest is collected, or item taken from a rare, the icons are removed. Note that the links above are three different ones. You first need Handy Notes, then the separate addons for Legion & Argus Treasures.

Relic Inspector

With the addition of the Netherlight Crucible on Argus, players may wish to track how a relic can be upgraded before actually doing so via the forge. It lets you see information about the relics socketed in your Artifact via a tooltip. "RelicInspector now also displays Netherlight Crucible powers on your own weapon tooltips and provides a reminder to you when you should visit the Crucible to select a new power."

Have you ever wondered if a new piece of gear is an upgrade for your current or off spec? If so, Pawn helps you understand if it actually is or not. Pawn can be customized for stat weights to suit the specific type of gear you're looking for. When you pick up an item or place a cursor over its title or while sitting in inventory, you will be shown a tooltip indicating how much, if any, it will improve your current gear kit. You can add multiple specs to a class's display so you can see which one a piece of gear is best suited for.

Silent World Quests

If you've spent any time at all flying over and around the Broken Isles, you've probably been screeched at by NPCs as you've passed over a quest area. The problem is that the dialog they yell at your character never changes. For instance, if you do Warden Towers, you'll probably be awfully tired of Sylvanas or Genn Greymane expounding on why it's important to take out the enemy. Silent World Quests effectively mutes all screaming NPCs and the annoying graphic pop up that comes with them. You can still see what they want (though you probably don't want to...) in the chat panel. BEST. ADDON. EVER.

Other General AddOns Good Throughout Azeroth

  • ElvUI or TukUI - Interface addons that allow you to customize your UI to make it as simple or complex as you wish.
  • Auctionator - Great for casual auction house users with an improved interface for posting and managing auctions.
  • TSM (Trade Skill Master): Designed to help casual and experienced auction house users to streamline gold-making processes.
  • Deadly Boss Mods: Assists raiders and dungeoneers with boss mechanics.
  • Tell Me When: A visual, auditory and textual notification about cooldowns, buffs, etc.
  • Weak Auras: Track buffs, debuffs, etc.

Obviously, there are tons of other pretty amazing addons out there for World of Warcraft, so it's worth a trip to Curse to check them out.

What are some of your favorite addons? Let us know!
