With MMOs available on so many platforms these days, gamers can find it difficult to link up with their friends. Regardless of whether your main system is a console, PC, or even mobile, cross-platform MMOs allow seamless transitions between devices while keeping progress intact. Whether you’re looking for seamless cross-save functionality or just the ability to team up with friends on different platforms, here are the best cross-platform MMOs to play in 2025.

Albion Online

Platforms: PC, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, Steam Deck

Albion Online is a sandbox MMORPG that thrives on its player-driven economy and full-loot PvP mechanics. The game’s isometric perspective and simple, stylized graphics ensure smooth performance on a variety of devices, making it one of the best fully cross-play MMOs available. Its true cross-platform compatibility allows players to jump between PC and mobile seamlessly, keeping the same account and progress.

Final Fantasy XIV

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Final Fantasy XIV has long been one of the best MMORPGs on the market, and in 2024, it finally expanded to Xbox, making it more cross-platform than ever. Players on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox can adventure together, experiencing the game’s rich story, deep endgame content, and engaging social features. Final Fantasy XIV also supports using the same account across multiple platforms with a single subscription as long as you are willing to buy separate copies of the game for each device.

Throne and Liberty

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

Designed to offer seamless cross-play between PC and consoles, Throne and Liberty is an open-world title that features large-scale PvP battles, dynamic weather mechanics, and a vast, persistent world. With an emphasis on accessibility, it allows players from all platforms to play together, but it does not support cross-play.

RuneScape

Platforms: PC, Steam Deck, macOS, iOS, Android

RuneScape remains one of the longest-running MMOs, and its cross-platform support allows players to enjoy it on both PC and mobile. Whether playing the modern RuneScape or the nostalgic Old School RuneScape, both versions feature full cross-play and cross-save, letting players switch between devices effortlessly. This flexibility, combined with its deep skill system and evolving world, keeps RuneScape as relevant as ever.

Black Desert Online

Platforms: PC, Steam Deck, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Black Desert Online is a visually stunning action MMORPG with a robust character creator and real-time combat. While Xbox and PlayStation players can play together, the PC version is not cross-compatible. Though full cross-play between all platforms isn’t available, the game still allows players to experience its world on various devices.

Warframe

Platforms: PC, Steam Deck, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

With fast-paced combat, deep customization, and frequent updates, Warframe is a top-tier cross-platform MMO. Warframe has steadily improved its cross-platform support, now offering full cross-play across all platforms. Cross-save functionality is also available for most platforms, allowing Tennos to link their PC account to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and iOS, with Android cross-save still in development.

Elder Scrolls Online

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Elder Scrolls Online delivers a vast, story-rich MMORPG set in the beloved Elder Scrolls universe. Cross-play is only supported within console families - PlayStation 4 and 5 players together, Xbox One and Series X|S players together. While a single account can be used across multiple platforms, characters and progress through the game are not shared between platforms.

Destiny 2

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Bungie’s looter-shooter MMO, Destiny 2, offers full cross-play across all platforms, allowing players to team up for raids, strikes, and PvP regardless of their device. It also features cross-save, meaning players can carry their progress seamlessly between PC and consoles. With a constantly evolving story and deep endgame content, Destiny 2 remains one of the best cross-platform MMOs available.

Tower of Fantasy

Platforms: PC, iOS, Android, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5

Tower of Fantasy is a sci-fi MMORPG that combines open-world exploration with action-based combat. Its anime-inspired visuals, engaging world events, and co-op mechanics make it a great choice for players looking for a mobile-friendly, cross-platform experience. It features cross-play and cross-save between PC and mobile, but PlayStation 4 and 5 players are on a separate server.

DC Universe Online

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

DC Universe Online brings the world of superheroes and villains to life in an action-packed MMO. With a rich character customization system and ongoing story updates, DCUO has grown from its original launch on PC and PS3 to include PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Although DCUO is available on multiple platforms, cross-play is only available between PC and PlayStation. Cross-save is unfortunately not available on any platform.
