AuA and the Road Ahead

A few miscellaneous items were mentioned in the AuA that were not talked about at all in the Road Ahead. The team plans on doing housing but they want to do it right. Because of this they have no timetable on when it might make it into the game. The patch cadence will be about every 4 to 6 weeks. Chat bubbles will be put into game to help out the roleplayers (and for those that are hard of hearing). Additional guild ranks and customization are coming. Players will see a justice system and players will actually get to become city guards. Guar mounts! And ZOS also addressed a litany of bugs and what they plan on doing about it.

Something that was talked about in the AuA that I think is a terrible idea is the introduction of Guild Kiosks.

“There will be kiosks in all major cities - with a “seller” vendor NPC. Guilds will be able to bid on each kiosk, if they submit the highest bid, that guild’s store will be accessible to everyone who interacts with the NPC. Guild control of a kiosk will last for one week, after which it will be back up for bid.” -  Matt Firor

To me this just does not make any sense. Being able to set up a guild store was supposed to be one of the perks for doing well in AvA. While I do not agree with that design decision either (not because it isn’t a “cool” idea but because it is not really impactful) I think this is just another step in the wrong direction while ZOS tries to avoid what is starting to appear as an inevitability. A functional auction house in the game. ZOS should either go with the AH or stop with the half measures. Rewarding zerg guilds for being able to bid on Kiosks to hawk their wares should not be the desired endstate but it is what ZOS will achieve. That said ZOS is working on improvements to the guild AH. Hopefully we will see these sooner rather than later.

Also for all of you out there that own the game you will get an additional 5 free days of game time for your launch day woes. While this has become par for the course for most sub based MMOs during launch month tokens of generosity are always welcome. Did you see anything on the list that you are looking forward to? Did you see any glaring omissions that you think the game really needs? I did, I want an out of game app I can put on my phone or iPad that allows me to read all the Lorebooks when I should be doing other things while not in game. Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading.
