merwer writes: Disclaimer: I played this alot when it was new, and have picked it up and put it down multiple times over the years. Few games I know of can say that they've maintained a continuous online community for over 10 years. Clan Lord originally started as a mac-only game, and having the honored title of Macintosh's first MMO, is one of those games. The graphics are obviously dated as they haven't undergone any real aesthetic updates in 10 years, but if you can get past the graphics and the simple game-play you will find a game with lots of hidden gems. The community is to-date still the *best* I have ever played with. They are patient and helpful - even the jaded ones that have been there for close to a decade. If you're new to the game and still have problems fighting rats, the oldies will still lend a hand, rather than ignoring you to your own devices and killing their giants. Mon Jun 16 2014 1:52PM

The strong, helpful, and cooperative community is a big plus for this game, but there are also some other things that make this game keep delivering for so long. There is no level cap, so you can keep improving your skills and keep having long term goals forever. The content is always being expanded, so there are still areas now that have yet to b fully conquered and explored (so there is no soft cap where you reach a point where you can defeat every challenge with ease). The combat system is really cool. You attack monsters by bumping in to them while holding a weapon, but swinging uses balance which is also your defense, so you need to swing wisely which takes some clicking skill. Combat does not just involve standing still and swinging, but is instead a dance with lots of movement and running around. There is no "combat mode" - monsters will not just go out of combat mode just because you run away. Combat is complicated and involves lots of strategy and teamwork. There is always lots to do and plenty of fun to be had in this game! Wed Jul 06 2011 4:00AM
