NDA Lifted as City of Heroes Goes Gold - City of Heroes -

In a colossal double-whammy, NCSoft has announced the gold status of both its fantasy-themed MMORPG, Lineage 2 (click here), and it's super hero-themed MMORPG, City of Heroes.  In an e-mail to current beta testers, Online Community Coordinator Aura Manning stated the following:

We are writing this evening to inform you that the City of Heroes Non-Disclosure Agreement has officially been lifted!

This means that you are free to talk about any and all aspects of the game in-person with others and/or online (in chats, on message boards, etc). Share your opinions about the game openly! Take screenshots and host them on your web site! These activities are now officially allowed.

In the official press release (found here), NCSoft elaborates on the release and the pricing:

NCsoft ® Corporation (KSE: 036570.KS), the world's leading developer and publisher of online computer games, announces that City of Heroes TM  has reached gold master status in North America and will soon be on its way to retailers in the United States and Canada. The company also announces that all customers who purchase the City of Heroes pre-order box and register their account will have a three-day head start in the game over customers who purchase the game on or after the launch date. The official launch date for City of Heroes is April 28.

The game will be available at a suggested retail price of US$49.99 and includes the first month of online game play. After the first month, players will be charged a monthly subscription fee of US$14.99. Sixty-day game time cards will also be available at many North American retailers at a suggested retail price of US$29.99.

With these two announcements, NCSoft is kicking into high gear what may well be the biggest year yet for Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games.  Stay tuned as we at continue to bring it to you!
