Cryptic Studios has posted a new update on the Champions Online site to let players know that the Shadow of Destruction content expansion is now live on the Public Test Server. Shadow of Destruction will bring new story line missions, daily repeatable quests, open missions and new rewards to the game.
Champions Online players can celebrate Canada Day and Independence Day during the Patriot's Celebration running from now through July 14th. During the event, players can check out a new sidekick named IndyKid, the Tricolor travel power and a new in-game event called Red Winter Alert. Completing the event yields Patriot Tokens that can be turned in for Sideicks and FlagSuperJumps.
The Champions Online site has been updated with a note about an update applied to the game yesterday with a brand new, streamlined tailoring interface that has trimmed out a good deal of the costume categories and the disorganization / bloat that had become part of it over the years. As a result, players should be able to more quickly find costumes and have an easier time creating them.
From now through Monday, June 20th, Champions Online players can log in and claim the Rainbow Flight travel power for free. This is a permanent and account-wide unlock that normally sells for premium in-game currency.
Players in groups of three to five will be able to take part in the Nightmare Invasion in Champions Online. Creatures are invading and its up to the heroes to stop them and investigate the mysterious stranger named Golden Seraph who has appeared asking for help to stop the invasion. Nightmare Invasion runs from today through June 3rd.
Champions Online players looking for a big challenge will want to check out the Giant Monster Attack Event that has now gone live on all servers. The event will run from today through May 12th and players can earn special costume drops and more.
