Latest Update Packed with Nuggets of Information -

The latest Camelot Unchained update has been posted and it contains a bunch of nuggets of information to bring fans up to speed since the last update at the end of March.

The smaller items include:

  • interviews for hiring are being conducted with more scheduled
  • the next Stretch Goal is in sight
  • the Wiki is moving along and it's almost time to bring in outside help
  • the French site has launched with the German site underway
  • new Builder Tiers will open up
  • alpha testing is progressing well with lots of bugs being squashed, including one big one that the team is hard at work to eradicate
Lastly, the issue of how best to track and report Alpha progress is being considered. To give a clearer picture of what is being done, the team plans to adopt a "User stories" method to allow users to track progress:
In short, a user story is a “description consisting of one of more sentences in the everyday or business language of the end user or user of a system that captures what a user does or needs to do as part of his or her job function.” (Source: Wikipedia – How does that apply to us? Well, we will break down the major tasks that we are working on in a more game-friendly manner. For example, a user story might say “I want to nock, aim, and shoot an arrow” or “I want to summon a wind storm,” or other things like that. We think that this will result in a more concise way for Backers to track our progress, while at the same time still providing a lot of background info as well.
For those who may remember, "Strike Teams" were used in the Mythic days and the notion of "user stories" is utilizing that background to make it more relevant to Camelot Unchained and to the more modern world of game development.
