Over this past weekend, Gearbox Software was on hand during Guardian Con to talk about its triple strand combination of social, streaming and accessibility features. Gearbox is aiming to let players take part in Borderlands 3 in brand new ways.

A new series of Borderlands 3 is incoming starting with today's view of the planet Pandora as told by the one and only Claptrap. "We commissioned our very own Claptrap to create a serious scientific documentary detailing the flora and fauna found on everyone's favorite desert hell planet: Pandora. It didn't go well."

A brand new Borderlands 3 trailer arrived during today's Microsoft Xbox E3 2019 presentation. This time, viewers get a firsthand look at the crew and a bit of gameplay along the way. One Borderlands 3 fan with terminal cancer will be playing Borderlands 3 in June. Trevor Eastman had taken to the Borderlands 3 Reddit last month to talk about his diagnosis with esophageal, stomach and liver cancer and to ask fellow Redditors to help him reach out to Gearbox and 2K to play the game early. As a result of the collective effort, Eastman said that representatives will be flying out with a copy of the game for him to play. "Thank you all for making this dream come true," he wrote.

Dave Eddings is not just the voice behind Claptrap, the lovable but annoying robot mascot of the Borderlands franchise, he's also a former VP of Business Development at Gearbox, and now the driving force behind Rooster Teeth Games' publishing. But he won't be back to voice Claptrap in Borderlands 3, and we might now know why...

During yesterday's Borderlands 3 livestream extravaganza, it was revealed that, while the game won't have microtransactions in the "traditional sense", there will be DLC for sale as the game matures. "We've made a commitment to what Borderlands is and supposed to be," said Randy Pitchford. "Our fans have told us loud and clear that they cherish and want us to preserve in Borderlands 3. There's no microtransaction-y, free-to-play kind of stuff."

Starting May 1st, Twitch.tv users will find the new Borderlands 3 ECHOcast extension that will allow them to potentially earn loot and items for the game long ahead of its September release. "This extension will not only allow Twitch viewers to interact with livestreams of Borderlands 3 in exciting new ways, it will also give viewers opportunities to score their own in-game items by participating in events with other viewers right there in the stream."

The looter shooter is a hard genre of game to get right, but Gearbox managed to get pretty close with its series of Borderlands games. As fun as they were, it’s important not to look back on them with rose tinted glasses. There were definitely some areas I’d have liked to see improved and I’m hoping Borderlands 3 will address the issues and also add some new features along the way.

It’s been a long time, but Gearbox finally took the wraps off Borderlands 3 at this year’s PAX East and boy did it look awesome. And as awesome as it did look, the presentation was unfortunately scant on details. Fast forward a couple of days later and we’ve learned quite a bit more about the newest entry in the series, with details on characters, weapons, platforms and more. Let’s recap.

After all the speculation yesterday about deleted tweets on the release date for Borderlands 3, we now know that it will arrive, in fact, on September 13th. It will be an Epic Games Store exclusive through April 2020.

A now-deleted Borderlands 3 Twitter post has caused a stir in the community with its revelation of a September 13th release date and the mention of preorder bonuses in the form of weapon skins. In addition, eagle-eyed Twitter user Wario64 also caught a now-deleted post with a brief video showing the Epic Games Store logo in the corner, possibly hinting at a timed exclusive. Gearbox's Randy Pitchford addressed irate fans on his Twitter saying that marketing decisions like this belong to 2K/Take2.

Gearbox is teasing what appears to be Borderlands 3 that will happen on March 28th during PAX East. It's "teasing" in the same way that being hit over the head with a bat is "gentle", leaving little room for doubt that Borderlands 3 is precisely what we'll hear more about during its presser on March 28th at 11:00 am Pacific / 2:00 pm Eastern.
