Aion Online - State of the Game

My current view of Aion is that of an intense MMORPG like I've never experienced, and I've been absolutely ecstatic over the upcoming patch to Aion. It's changes for both the instance, raid, and grind aspect of the game are in no way a hinderence to my enjoyment of this game. However, between bots, x64-bit crashing, and loot ninjas, this game has had its share of negative experiences for every player.

One of the greatest aspects of this game for me is that the developers are actually listening to the players. (They even post blogs about us!) The smaller fixes to the chat system have definately made this game more enjoyable since the launch, because the developers are taking advice from the community. All in all, these changes have definately cut down the number of chat spamming bots. At the launch, bots were definately a problem, which caused a sum of players to cancel their subscriptions.

The next point I want to reach is that of the the upcoming update. This brings much needed change in the experience tables and quest system. More specifically, the changes are increased group experience, changes to the group experience scaling based on level, and changes to the amount of experience gained from killing monsters. Not to say that I'm not totally hyped about the fortress raid defense changes, but I'm more of an offensive raider (even if I am a Templar). Sadly, I won't be looking forward to the Fire Temple instance changes, although I will have Steel Drake and Dark Poeta changes to delve into.

The greatest change in this patch for me, is that of the Cosmetic System. I'm sure that I'm not the only player who thinks that a change of looks is necessary. I mean, I didn't know so much about the character creation system when I started, so I didn't even get to make my character look like me. (And this is coming from someone who has probably played every American MMO to ever exist)

Hopefully, this update preview and future changes will contain more changes that attract a larger playerbase, as well as make the game more enjoyable for current players. Though, what I would like to see is legion size increases, legion housing, and individual players housing. When those updates roll into my server, I might end up not having an actual house to live in, with all my Aion time.

1.5.1 Preview Patch Notes:

P.S. I'm always looking for new friends, so feel free to add Apocalyptor on Kaisinel.
