Can we?

Just ranting on if gamers can ever truly be satisfied, seems we always find something to whine about.

Can we?

First off let me start by saying this, by no means am I an expert on the subject but I have to ask it. Will video game players ever truly be satisfied? Now I know there are many people out there like me who know the differences between hype and reality and we know how much you can read into what a developer has to say, and when to be skeptical. On the other hand, there is a whole group of people who have no clue about any of this.

I am a very active user when it comes to gaming forums. I have well over a thousand posts on , I am a "King" on the Age of Conan official forums, I am very active on the guild forums at , among many other forums I choose to lend my services to.

I have noticed though, that on these very forums there are about 20% of the users who have any idea what the hell is going on half of the time. I will use Age of Conan as my prime example for now. For a while, there was no such thing as Friday Updates. Forum goers cried for more information, and after a while what they got was Friday updates. The updates started out with little things, like covering lore, or a couple of monsters that will be in the game, and then even information about characters. Players were excited.

Then came a day when one of the updates gave us information on a class that will be in the game. While this would normally seem great it turned out to be a double edged sword. Now whenever FunCom ( makers of Age of Conan ) release a Friday Update and it doesn't feature a class, they bitch and moan that they are hiding too much information from us and that the game is turning into vaporware.

FunCom employees then went to to answer questions for posters there to give them insight on the game, and all they did was try to pick apart everything the poor guy said.

It also seems to me that many people do not read what the developers or anybody dealing with FunCom has to say. Why do I think this? Simple, because there are so many topics made on the official forums asking about this or that , that the developers already answered, and the forums comes with a "DEVELOPER TRACKER" so you can see all their posts and when they were posted and to what they were replying to. Unfortunately, nobody else seems to read this and I feel like I have to babysit on the forums because these same users who can not read or search to see if a topic has already been made, create "end of the world" style topics because they think the game is changing so much.

This is my rant for the night, and I guess certain gamers (illiterate ones) will never be please.

Enjoy the read, I enjoyed the rant!
