since there are many more talented peeps than me in the world of istaria, going to youtube and searching out vids of my beloved home is a good plan.  here is one that slipped by me, but which i think you might like.

it is a vid of critters and spells you will run across in istaria.   forewarned is forearmed, they say!!!

go here to view the bestiary video!

by the way, long time players might still not know what the squirrel sez.  i have it on a wav somewhere, but thankfully, someone has already done it for me.  here's where you get that burning question answered.  you are welcome.

the prestige adventure skewls - healer

today, we meet the single healer trainer.  healers, as you might surmise, are elite clerics that focus almost exclusively on healing.  healers (single class, anyway) aren't very useful for actual fighting, but you want one in every battle group.  using their skill in manipulating life energy, healers can stand in the middle of a melee and keep allies healed and living thru the most raging of battles.  therefore, one must have a minimum of 200 in the life skill (leveling to at least 20 in cleric is the only way to do this).  most elder players (and the wiki) suggest placing as many training points as you can in the life skill, if you hope to become a truly effective healer:

Healing skills (mostly Life): Adds to healing amounts by twice as much as Focus. Note that the healing amount cannot exceed double the healing spell's specified range

the only current trainer for healers is meosoe in kion proper.  this female saris stands waiting in the furthest building north of the incoming port pad.  you will see her directly in front of you when you reach the entrance.

hope to see you next time to meet another prestige skewl trainer(s).  istaria is full of interesting and unique characters to be!

the prestige adventure skewls - guardian

the guardian skewl is an elite form of druid, specializing in using their nature magic in a defensive, rather than offensive, manner.  to become a guardian, one needs a nature skill level of 200 (best received by leveling druid to 20), and skill of 200 in either one or two hand crush (druid will give you points in this, but not as many as warrior, so you will have to level further in druid if you choose that route).

guardian wannabes have a choice of 3 trainers to induct them into the ranks.  the human trainer, cole, is located at the top of the stairs on the second level of the tavern/vault building, directly west of the incoming port pad, in dalimond.  he waits to speak to you about joining istaria's guardians.

there is a sslik trainer in sslanis.  its name is kazrok, and you can find it in a large hut east of the incoming port pad.  kazrok stands just inside the entrance, eager to enter you into the brotherhood of guardians.

our last guardian trainer to meet is lialione in tazoon.  taz is a big place, and sparsely populated, so getting to anyone is always an adventure.  and that is the case here.  altho the female fiend is ready to speak to you in a building directly south of the incoming port pad, the paths you can take are anything but direct.  you can take the wet route, by jumping into the stream and following it south (you will have to duck or jump out a the low bridges) - or you can run down the east side of the bank until you come to the first bridge.  i crossed to the west bank here, or you can continue on the east side until you come to the big bridge.  go thru the gateway, past the god captain, up the stairs and thru the doorways.  lialion is against the library wall in front of you.

becoming an important part of istaria's defenses is just that easy.  lialione is the major trainer to approach for quests, otherwise it is up to you to prove your worth.  see you again soon for another prestige skewl to discover!

the prestige adventure skewls - flame disciple

today, we will make the perilous journey to meet the single flame disciple trainer.  it will be a packed post for a trainer - because, make no mistake, getting to him is dangerous, even for the highest level character.  the road to this trainer will be all maps, because i dared not stop to take screenies.  my greatest advice to those seeking to become a flame disciple is to make sure you have a body guard or two for the trip.  this is no joke or idle warning, as you will see.......

flame disciples are an elite rank of monk, using flame magic learned in leveling in the mage skewl to add deadly damage to their unarmed strikes.  officially, you need a skill of 200 in unarmed strike (about level 20 in monk is best) and the quest 'learn the disciplines', obtained from hasera in kion.  unofficially, at least a passing knowledge of working magic is greatly beneficial.  there are 3 other disciplines monk can choose to specialize in, and we will meet them presently.

the human male senetal is the flame disciple trainer, and he is located in a very dangerous area near the upper northwest coast of dralk.  he makes his home in the tower of wizardry, and to reach it, you must run or fight your way thru lava oastics (now known as volcanic pustules, a much kewler name), thel'kuk, and zal'kuk hordes.  i used swift feet as much as i could, and i still almost died at least twice.  the area surrounding (including underneath, if you should happen to fall off a cliff, something quite easy to do) the tower is the breeding grounds for 2 types of obsidian gols, the beets formerly known as lava, and other assorted heated nasties.  seriously, by the time i got to the tower itself, i had quite the number of near hits.........

anyhoo, on to the directions.  starting in dralk, you want to head in a north northwesterly direction.  stay on the road - DO NOT STRAY FROM IT!!   you need the road speed bonus.  i followed the swiftest and safest road, altho you can see from the map that there are longer ways to get to the tower.

once you stand at the bridge to the tower, the trip is still not over, just not dangerous anymore.  once you cross the bridge and enter the tower, you have to climb to the top to find senetal.  after all that effort, he had nothing to say to me.  i hope you guys are appreciating all this!  ;-}p

i suppose the journey is a test to see just how badly you want to be a flame disciple.  i hope it is worth it for you!  join me again soon to discover another prestige adventure skewl.
