meet the quarrying trainer

Since juquenas has a task for me to collect obsidian, I figured I would check with the quarrying trainer, kreig.   You can find this trainer just across from the ravine entrance to the floating island, next to the vault, across from the port pad, in a little alcove – so you might run right past the dragon, if you aren’t careful.

At my current level, the quarrying trainer asks me to collect 100 obsidian slabs, the basic raw resource (as opposed to the obsid bricks juquenas asked me to make).  Once I fulfilled the order, I returned to the quarrying trainer to receive my reward.

And that is how you level your quarrying ability.  See you later with another dragon trainer – the next several will be found on the outskirts of chiconis proper.  Don’t you just love maps?

meet the spellcrafting trainer

Well, you made it to chiconis.  Interesting place, don’t you think?  See the floating crystal island?  We are gonna meet our first dragon trainer in one of the caves!  Bet you would like to know where, eh?

Okay, enough teasing.  There are several trainers inhabiting the floating island, but I would like to introduce you to juquenas, the spellcrafting trainer, first.

In order to find the trainer, we start where I left you last time.  Across from clerash, you will see a guard post and the town portal.  Head in that direction.  Go past the port pad – in between the pad and the vault, you will find a small ravine.  Cross the bridge (as an aside, this bridge and the island is a great place for practicing your gliding, before you head up to the top of the granitefall mountains for the long flight) and enter the ‘foyer’ of the island caves.  You will see the mouths of several caves, each marked by a colored crystal formation.  We are interested in the leftmost cave, marked with a green crystal formation.  Cross another small stone bridge and you will enter a smaller cave with turnings to your left and your right.  Head down the right side passage, which leads down in a spiral.  At the bottom, you will see some crafting stations and find the dragon trainer

Fortunately, for our purposes, while I am maxed out as an adventurer, I still have work to do as a dragon crafter.  Therefore, juquenas has a quest for me, which I happily share with you.  Speaking to the trainer gets me the task of collecting 70 obsidian bricks.

While doing this tour, I collected several other quests (which I will show you when appropriate), so I could do them all at the same time.  So eventually, I did bring back the 70 obsid bricks and was rewarded for my efforts.

Join me next time for more trainer tour hilites!!!  See you soon!

2013 world attunement tour, part 2

Awesome!  You made it to brist, but you still can’t port directly to chiconis.  You need to make yet another run of attunement, but at least you will get 2 attunements to major cities out of the deal.

First up is dalimond, which is a relatively short run in a generally northeastern direction.  Take the appropriate road and just keep running until you get to the outskirts of the port city.  You will know you are getting close when you start to see plant resources like garlic and corn in the nearby fields.  As a dragon, you have little need to know the locations of such things (although, being able to supply such info to your biped friends will endear you to them no end!), but they do make good road markers.

When you get to the city proper, head towards the shrine light.  Near the shrine, you will see a large angel statue surrounded on three sides by a scaffold.  On the platform, facing the gate, you will find micklin vandus, a councilman of dalimond.  Speak to him about becoming attuned to dalimond.

Now you can continue your easterly run to chiconis, the racial city of dragons of the helian faction.  On the way, you will encounter treants and spiders, among other non friendlies, so take an escort if you need (and you prolly will).  You will see a guard post manned by hetherandess when you are getting close to the city proper. Continue on the road until you get the granitefall mountains trigger.  Your chat screen will update, and checking your quest journal’s completed quests page will show you that you have completed the quest gerix gave you in kion.  Keep heading up the road, passing by dragons and landmarks you will become introduced to later in the course of your questing career.  At the top of the road, on your right, you will see clerash, the town marshal.  To attune to chiconis (and avoid this run constantly!), speak to the dragon and you are all set!

Next time we meet, we will start your introductions to the chiconis dragon trainers.  I know, I know, about time!!

2013 world attunement tour, part 1

once you are finished with kion, you will be wanting to do some exploring, which is good.  But why not explore with a purpose?  With that in mind, let’s go on our first attunement tour!  You will be doing a few more, later, but there has to be a first time for everything!

The most important place in the world, porting wise, is bristugo.  But you notice that it is unavailable to you, as a new player – showing as unavailable in the portal listing.  In order to change that, you have to take a long run, and we will make it even longer, cause I am gonna have you attune to a couple other places first!

From kion, you need to take the southeast road.  This is not an easy path at your probable level – the path runs by greymane wolves and sand pygmies and ogres, with some skeletons and spiders for spice.  There is no shame in banding together with other newbies, or asking for help from higher levels.   Death points at low levels are highly annoying.

Anyhoo, keep running down the coast until you pass the lakes of crystal tears, where the sand pygs live (you will be coming back to the lakes for some quests later), until you reach a bridge. Next to the bridge is the lower bridgeview guard post, manned by private asenathSpeak to the private and become attuned.

Now, you could continue on over the bridge, and you will need to cross it to get to brist, but while you are here, might as well get attuned to sslanis, as well – you will need to anyway, as you will have quest duties in the area.  So keep running on the coast road.  If you are on blight, you will know you are getting close when you see the lighthouse vel built singlehandedly.  I am quite proud of that lighthouse, and lobbied to get a name change to ‘the queen’s tada’ (a long story) – in vain, of course.  Soon after the lighthouse, you will begin to see signs of a city on the road.  Just before you enter the city proper, you will meet one of the sslik guards, kerrakSpeak to it and you will become attuned to the stone city.

Well, brist has been my recall point since way before the new attunements, so I just recalled back to brist from here, but you will need to run back to the bridge, cross it, stay on that road until you reach the outskirts of the port city, go past the portals, and down the hill to the fort and shrine area.  On the porch of the little house next to the shrine, you will find sergeant jonisSpeak to him to get attuned to bristugo.  My advice is to take a moment to bind to the shrine and make bristugo your recall point.  You can get almost anywhere in the world (well, okay, as long as you are attuned) from there!

But brist, while important, is not chiconis, which is where we need to be.  So, next time, I will show you how to get there!
