While searching for new online game to play, I happen to come across the newly released beta "Wind of Luck: Arena". From the get go I noticed that this was not your regular fantasy game. There were no towers or castles that needed to be defended and you certainly would not be playing as any mage or knight. Instead you entered the realm of naval battles. You fought with only the greatest of ships used throughout history by great pirates and explorers, truly bringing their legends to life and as a plus you could learn more about the history of shipbuilding and the types of ships that now we can only watch in the documentaries.

I must admit that the developers sure did their research well though their history still remains a mystery to me. The game was developed by Trazzy Entertainment Ltd a group of indie developers from Cyprus. Sadly I’ve never played any of their previous games and though they lack a big name titles does not mean they are not worthy of attention, in fact it’s quite the opposite. Drawn in by the unique premise, I registered, installed the computer vision and started playing. Like I said before “Wind of Luck: Arena” is centered on naval battles - dynamic, decisive and devastating, just constant action. Skillful captains can sink much bigger ships, using a wide variety of different tricks and unusual actions.

The game reminded me of scenes in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End", where the pirate lords are facing the Spanish battalion. On the developer's website I found the information that the latest patch was released and it corrects some shortcomings of the previous version. The news was confirmed by some other regular players on the official forum of the game. By the dynamics of publishing patches I can conclude that the studio is working hard to correct all deficiencies to give the best gaming experience possible.

“Wind of Luck: Arena” features team Vs team battles with up to 10 ships per team. You can fight against random opponents or rather decide to train together with friends, sharpening your combat skills and exploring various locations (at the moment, only Archipelago is available, but several more are coming soon, including Aztec Gold and Lost Expedition). The battle arenas are well designed and breathe taking, offering a good spectacle and tactical challenge of a variety of battle conditions. The ship’s reflection, traces of its movement and the wind that fills the sails will make you feel like you're really in the middle of the naval battle.

After the battle, you will be awarded with points like fame, expertise and money. The game has its own currency called piasters, like in the old Venetian Republic. The money you earn may be used combined with other assets to improve your existent ships and acquire new ones in the fleet. Every ship has its strong points and vulnerabilities, and even the small schooner can achieve victory against a heavy frigate if the winds of luck are on your side (Pun intended). writes:
