This will be nice and short, and to the point.

I remember back in my ole days, I walked miles to the rain, sleet and snow!

In other words...what happened to OPEN betas actually being open? These days...lets take Aion as a recent released example. Aion limited the amount of people who could be in the open beta...they even made you PAY for the game to play in beta.

Who thought this "great" idea up? I know Aion isn't the first, but its most recent in my mind. Why even call it OPEN beta? Call it a paid preview or paid trial or something...having to pay to be in open beta, is not open...its a paid beta.

Mortal Online, Champions Online and Star Trek Online are the ones who recently took this new trend to a whole new level.

I don't agree with it, but it secures their audiences are going to be spending money. I guess no more free lunches. But they should all give a trial period, it's only right since their is usually no return policy.

whatever , if it will get me in certain beta's i guess it is fine by me. I would be willing to pay to be in some betas that just have too many people in them to begin with. Problem is there are too many people now adays playing these games so it is harder to supplicate all these people.
