When Final Fantasy 11 came out I was more than excited. That was until I realised I had a crappy internet connection and a PC that treated everyone like they were the scum of the earth. I never actually got round to playing it until last night.

Now I know thats a bit late in the game but I felt a sort of obligation since I am a huge Final Fantasy and MMO fan. Its kind of like enjoying Strawberries and enjoying Cream but never trying the two together. Now I feel at this point I should mention I am playing this on my Xbox. Not because I have to but because I feel if we all play MMO's on PC's then there will never be a chance for the consoles to to improve MMO's.

Anyway, I was fully expecting a painfully long installation last night and I wasn't dissapointed. What I did not expect though was Playonline. What the fuck is Playonline when its at home? A moody teenager with no way to express themself and say what they want! The menu's are confusing and unnecessary and a general pain.

After wading through the shit that is Playonline and installations I eventually got in. I had done a bit of research before playing and decided that I had no clue about what I wanted to be. A jack of all trades seemed to be the best option, so Red Mage Hume it was. This leads me to my first issue. There seems to be a lack of interest in any of the character creation. Its like they go "Here's your options, now piss off".

Now when I got inside I was excited. What lush settings had the Final Fantasy team produced? I started in Bastok and was suprised to find what they had produced was a Medieval Car Park. Grey and Spacious and not really much to see. Not very exciting. So far my destiny looks bleak.

To be continued...
