This week we'll discuss upcoming PPO (player placed object) changes to emphasize more building of fortifications, which is planned for our next game update (1.35.15.2). We also want to give you an update on the Campaign state, and an upcoming High Command (AHC & GHC) combined summit to improve community planning. Finally we want share with you how your .Bugs and .Reports are an important component to our development lifecycle, and walk you through the process of what happens when we receive these.




PPO Adjustments in the works


When we set out to give players more opportunities to create their own game play environment, we wanted to make PPOs (player placed objects) accessible and easy to use. As a way to promote further building of the game environment, we'll be making adjustments to cool down timers and build timers. Take a look at the changes incoming as part of the next game update, 1.35.15.2.



  • Ammo Cache: enemy facility distance reduced by 50% (200M)

    • This will give the trucks and NCOs better ability to supply friendlies on the front.


  • Sandbags: build time reduced by 25% (15 seconds)

    • Cool down timer reduced by 40% (45 seconds)


  • Gun emplacement: cool down timer reduced by 23% (210 seconds / 3.5 minutes)

    • Build timer reduced by 10 seconds


  • Foxhole

    • Cool down timer reduced 63% (45 seconds)

    • Lifetime value doubled (lasts longer) 30 minutes

    • Build time reduced 34% (10 seconds)

Campaign Status


Currently - Axis own 80% of the map and continues to push West. Allies have made several amazing defensive stands despite the odds. We have seen GREAT comebacks in the past... can the Allies rally their troops or does  the Axis machine have too much momentum? Log in NOW to seal the fate of Campaign 156!


 


HC Summit in the Works!


Axis and Allied High Command will be hosting a "Summit" to engage with squads and players alike. These summits are a great way to express ideas and concerns with your HC leaders. We will keep you informed as the date and time is solidified.


 


The .Bug and .Report


These are your direct lines to CRS in-game, and every report is reviewed by their respective teams.


.bug - This sends an email to the Quality Assurance Team for review. Your reported email is very detailed including mission and location coordinates as well, so make sure you stand near the object as you type the report (if it's a physical object you are reporting). Typical uses of .bug reports include:



  • Terrain issues - trees inside of buildings, floating objects, etc

  • Weapon functionality - no ammo upon spawning, black smoke (being worked on btw), weapon malfunctions, weapon penetration issues, etc


The QA Team then attempts to duplicate the report inside a mirrored game server then report their findings to the appropriate team. It is advised to describe your issue with as much detail as possible.


.report - These reports are sent to the Game Moderators (GM's) only. The GM's are hand picked players tasked with enforcing our Terms of Service (TOS) that you agree to as you log in. Typically used for reporting in-game issues like player harassment, exploits, racial slurs, etc. Click here to view the Terms of Service article.

1.35.15.1 Hotfix Readme

This hot fix resolves numerous issues that came up with some of our latest releases. Several terrain fixes have been added, and two of our most significant updates in terms of game play will be the AAA AI guns being corrected to only engage aircraft only. 7th AST has also received their squad decal, and our Field Marshall and other Squad funders have been added to the in-game credits, courtesy of the last fundraiser (thanks guys). Bomb penetration constants have been upped as a temporary fix until other issues are corrected. There's more inside, so read this hot fix with great focus. This patch / hot fix further emphasizes that CRS is focused and committed to resolving bugs adversely affecting your game play, and that your bug reports and feedback are part of our game development. Version 1.35.15.1 - September 2018


This release is a hotfix for numerous issues that came up with the latest release.


Bug Fixes



  • Machine Gun Anti-Air AI (AAA AI) now has been corrected to only target aircraft

  • Fixes invisible FBs for Sittard-Maaseik and Orval-Carignan

  • Moves a facility maker in order to fix a Depot exit in Arlon

  • A tree was removed from the Weert South CP, an Eind building and Roermond West AB bunker

  • Fixed a broken AI pit in the Wiltz AF AB, Bilzen AB, Manhay, Vise, Maastricht West AB, Hallslag AF, Sittard and Kaarst AB

  • Redirected the Manhay North ATG pit to point away from town

  • Moved a fence that was in the road within Sierck-lesBains

  • Corrected the Griendtsveen-Helmond Depot being clipped into the ground

  • Moved the Echternach church so that it is no longer blocking the road

  • Fixed an issue with two objects being capable for the Vianden City CP

  • Corrected the Prum-Hillesheim and Julich FB from being clipped into a hillside

  • Added the hatch opening and closing sounds back in for the DLC Vickers Mk VIBs

  • A Trier road has been fixed that was sloped on a hillside

  • Missing ABs from Aachen, Feschaux and Hastiere have been fixed

  • Shifted two buildings that were clipping into each other in Monchen

  • Moved a Hillsheim building so that it's not clipped into a hillside

  • Added further corrections to the lighting system in order to correct issues that were being seen during sunrise and sunset

  • Lowered a building in Dusseldorf so that it is no longer floating above the ground

  • Removed bushes from a Namur building

  • Bomb Penetration constants have been upped as a temporary fix until other issues are corrected

  • An open terrain seem near Val-de-Vesle is now fixed


Adjusted Content



  • Some translations have been updated for the recent Steam DLC changes

  • Replaced a Boom AI tower with one that is climbable by players
    FBs with "Other" objects may be objects other than tents that are required to be destroyed before an FB goes down


New Content



  • The 7th AST Vehicle Decal has been added to the game

  • Field Marshal and Squad funders have been added to the credits

Today we'll be talking about rolling back the HE "Penetration Constant" portion of our recent audit, which will revert changes specifically how bombs are impacting hard targets (vehicles specifically). We'd also like to place a rally call for troops to show up online and surge the virtual battlefield by logging in at 10AM Server Time (US Central) on this Sunday, September 9th. Remember, all veteran soldiers have a FREE Rifleman account and are eligible to join even if their premium subscription is currently inactive. This is a great time for all to join up and play - set a reminder and let your squad mates know!




 


ROLLING BACK HE PENETRATION CONSTANT


CRS has been carefully examining player feedback in and out of the game, and we've made the decision to roll back the changes which effect how bombs impact (penetrate) armor. This means that bombs will become viable again towards blowing up tanks and all other vehicles to their previous standards. The changes in the first place were made to steer more towards historical realities, and while we were close we need to invest some more time into how they function so that it effectively penetrates armor more appropriately.


Please do note, not all elements of the HE audit will be rolled back, specifically referencing fragmentation, will be the new version. This is good because it means the bombs frag counts were much higher, resulting into greater casualties / effectiveness.


These changes will be placed into the game with urgency, just as soon as we can.


SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH EVENT


We're calling ALL soldiers to login to your side this Sunday at 10AM Server Time, that's 8AM Pacific, 11AM Eastern and 6PM GMT. Be sure to be on Discord (voice comms) found at www.wwiionline.com/discord


For the duration of the event, Free Players will receive access to the "LIGHT ARMOR & MEDIUM ARMOR" DLC Packs. We'll monitor their supply closely and make sure there's plenty to be had. This will not effect regular supply pools as they are their own separate supply.


Remember both organically and on Steam, you are able to now play WWII Online for FREE as a Rifleman.
