DC Universe Online First Pictures Out ... on MySpace???

The first screenshots of DC Universe Online are now out. The official site appears to be a MySpace page. Yes, MySpace. I don't have an account, so I can't look at it directly.

My first impressions of the screenshots, for a game that has been under supra-sekret development for a while now is 1) looks to be close to the animated style and 2) they don't look that good. We'll see when more images get released.

UPDATE - I might not be able to see the DCUO page because I'm not in the US. Good luck to the rest of you.

Though not an avid MySpace user, I do keep an online presence there for various friends who I want to keep in touch with, but know jack-sh|t about computers or the internet, as well as some music entities I like.

The one thing I do realize though, and so should anyone who thinks DC using MySpace to advert their game is wrong, is the advertising platform MySpace offers. Its cheap/free, it has aglobal reach, and it's interactive. This will reach those comic overs, new and old, who had no idea there would be a big game where they can make their own Hero. Some may never had even heard of CoH/CoV or Champions Onine.

But the one thing that bothers me is the craptastic screenshots. I know they want to keep things under wraps, but c'mon DC, if you leak info, even through oficial channels, at least give good, high-resoutions images of your hard work.

This is kinda my point - I don't automatically think MySpace is a bad thing. But that the first appearance of DCUO is so unimpressive... it just raises some big questions for me.

If they'd launched an official site alongside the MySpace page, even with the same content, I'd have been less confused by the marketing. This isn't some bush-league property by a new developer - it's SOE (who have been doing this a long time now) and DC (who have a lot of recognition for their characters and theoretically want this game to be successful).
