And so it continues...

So apparently, Carbine will be addressing the low population server issues soon. Frost said in a tweet: "we are working on some tech regarding that issue. You should hear about it soon." Well, at least they are not being completely silent about the situation. So, what does this mean exactly? Are they going the WoW route? Mega-server tech? Well, I mean it could be as simple as just merging the servers. I must admit they did have to many servers at launch, but I don't blame them for that. I mean, I am one one of the more popular servers, and sometimes it seems dead. I must admit I am a fan of a single mega server. It gets rid of the whole ghost town to a point, and I always see people. (Eve, and ESO, have spoiled me with that).

In other big Wildstar news, they will no longer be doing monthly updates. Well, my whole opinion on this is... I would rather them not bring out monthly "buggy" content. Instead doing what FFXIV does, and bring out solid content every few months. I believe it's 3 months for FFXIV? I don't know if they were over confident, or what, but I think reality is setting in for Carbine, and hopefully with that, players are being listened to more and more. It's not all roses in the Nexus. I may write and you may think it's the perfect game, but it's not. Even though the performance has improved, there are still a lot of bugs that needs to be fixed. Even though performance has improved, there are still instances where animations are going off correctly, or the damage isn't be read on the health bars. (When soloing group quests, and you don't know the actual HP on the mob... Yeah, it sucks).

I mean yeah, every game has bugs, and no game is bug free. I shouldn't complain to much, because I would be like everyone else talking about Wildstar it seems. Yes, i'm still staying away from Reddit, and Official forums. Going back to a point I was making... I think reality is setting in for Carbine. Maybe their realizing there game isn't as popular as they thought, there are a LOT of dead servers, and most people's complaints are valid. What should they do about it though? I mean if reality is setting in, they need to do some planning ahead. Break out some developer's blogs, and be real with people. I do not think the game failed at all, but it defiantly did not live up to many people's expectations. You hear a lot of "Glad I canceled my sub" or "Good thing I didn't buy that game". I mean yeah, a lot of people feel this way. We are I believe 4 months in, and zone chat was talking about "My god, it's WoW in space".

It feels like nowadays, every game is being butchered if it's like another game. Some more extreme than others in the hate. I mean I am all about voicing opinions, and having debates and stuff, but there is a point where I'm like "That's enough". I've muted a lot of people because they just log in to hate the game. I mean is there really a point to that? Hell I don't think so, but to them they have some sort of point they need to get across. "Hey, I spent 60$ to flame a game". Wise decision? Not to me. I mean here I am talking about a game that gets a lot of dislike. (Hate seems like a really strong word). I mean, I've canceled my sub before, I am not one of the extreme followers of the game. I play it because it attracts my attention, and scratches that MMO itch for me. Is it going to last forever? Probably not, but I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I want/can.

If I'm going to be perfectly honest with you all, I think sooner rather than later Carbine will adopt another model for the game. Whether it be buy to play, or free to play. Only they know the exact numbers, and we sort of have a clue with all the dead servers. Maybe when they announce what they are doing with the servers, the game will see more alive. I don' think NCSOFT will bring the shut down hammer before free to play in my opinion. I think they game could do extremely well off a free to play model, and if they did... They should carefully plan what restrictions, and what is offered in the store. Hell, they could even go the Rift Route, or something like that. I can't see into the future sadly, and we don't know what the people of Carbine are thinking. Anyone a mind reader?

Despite all of this, I'm having a blast leveling still. Almost level 30. Have dabbled into some dungeons, which I will talk about in the next post. I have yet to dabble in PvP, sorry, sorry. PvE is just to much fun. But yeah. If you want to discuss Wildstar, please leave a comment below, or tweet me @SIrIsaacJewton Cheers!

And so we continue...

I'm having a freaking blast playing Wildstar right now. No understatement or overstatement about it. I'm having a complete blast. I know it's the same old linear progression, hub questing, you know, natural themepark stuff. Is there any real difference though? I mean, we have quests that have to do with like... Remembering colors. (There was a game like that, I can't remember the name). Pushing F fast enough, or at the right times. I mean we got weird things like that, that make it different, but I mean besides that? Hub questing, and following the story line. It's fun though. I feel like I'm questing like Vanilla World Of Warcraft, in the sense that It's just plain fun. To expand on that, I was hella addicted to Vanilla WoW, to the point where my social life, and school life was gone. Wildstar doesn't do that exactly, though I have said no to my friends to playing Dota 2 because of Wildstar, I'm still eating and sleeping compared to Vanilla. Did I mention I was addicted to it back then?

Is it more fun than FFXIV, or Elder Scrolls? Well, I mean this of course is my opinion. Comparing Wildstar to those is hard, because each game has something better than what I'm comparing it to. FFXIV had an amazing leveling experience, and ESO has amazing crafting, role playing potential. I hate to keep going back to it, but Wildstar gives me the vanilla feeling. I know i'm not answering the question directly, but I kind of don't want to in a sense. All the games have pros and cons. With Wildstar fixing it's issues with performance by a big margin, It's currently in high favor with me.

Right now in the game, I'm still just reading up on lore, and enjoying my leveling process. I'm being a exploring type of player right now, getting all my science stuff done, and doing every quest in the region. I'm putting a lot of effort and time right now into the game, and it's making my time with it more enjoyable! I'm still trying to find a fit where I can play the game in a hardcore sense without the burn out feeling. That happened with SWTOR, and FFXIV. So i'm playing in about 3 hour sessions, twice a day right now. If time allows it more or less.

Why so much time? I got classes twice a week, and work is easy, and my schedule is not a lot of hours, due to my own personal issues. (I swear). I have a lot of time to game, I mean I do have a social life, I go to the gym, (I lift bro). So what do I do with all this extra time? I game. Right now, to my own surprise. I am playing WS more than Dota 2. I play a lot of Dota 2 as well, just so you all know, and I stated previously I've played WS over Dota 2. I like the lore in the game, with it's own comedic effects. I love when I level it says something, the game has it's moments where I smile and chuckle. Because it's so random and strange. For once random and strange isn't so bad after all.

I'm sort of setting some goals I want for Wildstar, most of them have to do with end-game stuff which I won't get into detail so much. I'm only level 16 right now. Spell slinger for all of those who are curious. I have tried every class, and this one and Stalker I like the most. But I stuck with Spell Slinger so there we have it. I play healers in most games, and with you know... Faster que times for stuff, what's not to like. I'd like to touch on another subject before I end this post.

We have all seen you know NCSOFT's reports for money and stuff, and with some people stating Wildstar isn't so good. Empty servers, and I won't lie to you, there are a lot of low populated servers. Even my populated server feels dead at times. A server merge is something they need to be thinking about, I know it would be like saying 'Oh my god, free to play inc, noobs". I do not know how healthy the game is, if at all. Do I think the game would do better as a free to play game? At this stage, I think the game would benefit from it, but it does not need to be. The server merges, need to happen though. Do I see free to play coming into Wildstar's future? Yes, I do. I'll end it at that.

Wildstar Revisited [P1]

To space! (Once again...)

So, what's been going on? Wildstar again? Yeah, I know I wrote about it, but I was a little unfair I felt like, so I wanted to give the game a second chance! (This doesn't happen often). Why WildStar though? To be honest, I finished the story line in ESO, hit VR7, and just let my subscription expire. I was thinking to myself, what else is there? I saw the WildStar icon, and thought I would catch up with the game. If you have read the previous series to the game, you will know I have terrible performance issues, and de-sync issues. So, what has changed since then? Read on, and find out!

Okay, so the most important part? How is the performance? Well, I will tell you this though, it has improved a lot. I went from 15 fps, to around 40-50 fps. Steady fps that is. When streaming I hit around a steady 35 fps. Also, the game doesn't look like complete crap. Which is a huge plus. There are some parts, (Towns, and high mob areas), where the FPS does drop, but it's not as common as before. It's no secret that the game has some empty servers, there have been some forum posts, and some complaints, so I'm not going to give some rose tinted glasses about that situation. I re-rolled servers, and went to a PvP server, and went to the Exile faction. Normally, I would just play a human race, or human like race depending on what the game offers, but I actually went off and a made a Mordesh race, and I must admit... They look Badass.

There are still some huge complaints from the community, and the subreddit for the game is a lot of doom and gloom. So I'm avoiding going to them for information, I'm actually going to try to play the game start to finish. (In a sense at least). Since the performance issues are for the most part gone, I feel like I can fully enjoy what the game has to offer. As for the de-sync issue, I haven't noticed as much, but I did upgrade my internet, and things of that nature. It could have been that, or because of the server changes. Who knows, but it hasn't presented itself as much as it used to previously.

I think the first step for me for liking the game more and more, is to remove the doom and gloom from the situation. Even when you truly love a game, and you read doom and gloom it makes you think you know? I don't need negativity when playing a game I want to like. So I'm avoiding the sub reddit, and the official forums for awhile. I mean I browse reddit when I'm bored, and I tend to like reading forum posts also when I'm bored. So I'm going to do my best to avoid them. I think some readers will understand. As for people say "Well it deserves the hate". Maybe so. I don't need to read about it though, I don't care for the sub count, the game is playing better and that's what matters.

So new race, server, and the game plays better? I don't remember off the top of my head what the level I hit before I quit, (I could look, but lazy). I intend to beat that record, and just look forward to what the game has to offer. I did that with Elder Scrolls Online, and I hit VR7. So, I could take what I did with Elder Scrolls, and apply it here, and see what happens! You have no idea how excited I was when my FPS was you know like... 0?

There have been two major updates since I last played. The Strain, and Sabotage updates have hit the official servers. I've been reading up on what they have to offer. I mean, most important once AGAIN is performance improvements. I do believe Sabotage had to due with PvP. (Which I have not dabbled a lot into). I'm very curious on how PvP is now, and what not. I will be streaming Wildstar now and then. Because I can without getting crap FPS! I know with the Firefall series I gave an exact number of posts that this series would have. I don't have a clue how much this one will be. I expect more than 4, hopefully more though. I aim for around 8 posts for this one. So, I guess we will shoot for 7 more posts after this one!

Until next time. If you wanna talk about Wildstar, please leave a comment below, or send me a tweet @SirIsaacJewton Cheers!
