A lot of people are now seriously looking at Diablo 3 as a way of supplimenting their income when it launches.  Like it or not the Real money auction house IS coming, and I doubt very much that Activision/Blizzard will not change their mind on this.

With this in mind i did some research and recorded a follow up edition of Promoting thoughts which details ten practical tips on how to attempt to make money from Diablo 3.

Turn your volume up sit back with a nice drink and let me know what you think or any questions you might have.

The gameplay footage is simply there because I am one ugly mofo and no one wants to look at my face while I talk.

The discussion around Diablo 3 correct I havent played it, most people havent played it, the video is designed to try and dispell the belief that some people have that D3 will simply be a get rich quick scheme.  I know a lot of people think they are going to make a living from this and I wanted to try an ground expectations a little bit and make people realise there is a bigger cost to making money out of games than just spending a few hours playing.

First of all, has it been announced that you can retrieve the cash? If so, I have missed it. My guess is that you can get cash from other players, but can only spend it in game..

On the other hand, I really doubt that many people actually think they can get rich like that. If so, they have to grow up a bit. Sure, with some effort, you could maybe get your game to pay for itself, but not much more than that.

And if you can't get the actual cash out, you just invest in the game, so you win absolutely nothing.

Yes you will be able to retrieve your cash into a real world form, Blizzard will be using a third party to enable this and there will be a fee attached.  You also will have to attach a credit card or bank account (possibly paypal) directly to your battle net account.

At the point of sale you will have the option to put the cash to your batlenet balance or cash out.  The Cash out feature may not be available in all countries at launch it depends on the third party provider.

That is what Blizzard have confirmed in several interviews on the subject.

And what you state was ultimately the point of the video, anyone looking to make a living wage out of this will have to put in a lot more time and effort than they would into a real job.    But I do think it will be possible, this game is going to be huge, in terms of sales and players, d2 still has a thriving RMT secondary economy and look how old that is.
