Some updated pictures of the work being continued on the Jupiter Base model, which will be used for Docking ships and even maybe players being able to cruise around inside the Base. Here are the pics from the Robotech MMO forums.

Every good science fiction has a good way of having ships "jump" across galaxy and/or systems so you can get to places faster or more efficiently.

Star Trek has Warp, Star Wars has Hyperspeed, and others have many other variations, but Robotech has it's own pinnacle version called "Folding".

Will the MMO have Folding, at this moment....YES!

Before I got "Linux fever", I was working on folding. The plan is for ships from the horizont and larger to be fold capable.

For testing, I will probably allow all ships to fold.

There has yet to be any real discussion on how it will be implemented.

A Player Driven Economy

After burrowing through more of the Robotech MMO Forum topics I saw a discussion on a possible "Player Driven Economy".

NOTE: This topic was only discussed

A Possible Scenario: You're a human pilot, your Mecha Fighter is badly damaged from your last rebel attack on the Invid, you fly into a broken-down city that has obviously had the Invid's havoc wreaked upon it. You settle down and are in need of repairs, and thus in the midst of the city you find a fellow Rebel Engineer who has the right player class to fix your mecha, and you find out you have depleted your supply of protoculture and he depleted his supply of raw materials, and so you exchange the supplies needed. Thus, the economy begins!

Mech pilots need protoculture for their mechs... parts weapons etc etc
Engineers need raw materials to fix mechs, make items etc etc..

the very nature of supply and demand will create a player driven economy in-game

Was scanning through the Robotech MMO forums to find anything else people might want to look at, and I found one of the modelers/animators on the team was working on a model. Formerly known as the "Izumo" (in TSC as the SDF-4) this thing seems epic just looking at it!

Hi, I guess some people think if a franchise is not getting enough games and deserves an MMO...the fans do it themselves! A few fans of the Anime Franchise of ROBOTECH(which includes the original animes of SDF Macross, Southern Cross, and MOSPEADA and form the three into a original written western series-Also the latest original addition The Shadow Chronicles) have decided to form together as a game team with some being programmers and some being animators/modelers to create a Fan-Based MMO.

The project has going on for a couple of years now with every once and awhile progress is made due to RL jobs and lifes the makers have full-time. Not much is set-in-stone but there is a current FAQ and some alpha videos for people to see some early development of the project. Just don't expect too much from these guys.
