Skill Trees Go the Way of the World in Next Update

The Blade & Soul site has been updated with a forward look at the next update coming to the game. There are a trio of big changes incoming including an overhaul of skills, a Hongmoon Training Room and Hongmoon Level 20.

The training room will allow players to enter a private instance to practice class abilities, particularly useful for boosted characters. Players can choose to fight class Elements or try out "Dungeon Mode". The latter presents a list of dungeon bosses and their abilities. Players can fight as a tank or have a training dummy tank to practice DPS or healing roles.

Skills have been overhauled to remove the skill tree or points to assign. Rather, skills unlock at certain levels with players able to choose different "Moves" to give more flavor to a build. In addition, skills can be enhanced by a class Element.

The overall goal of these changes is to simplify what was previously an overly complex system, while retaining the customization that makes the classes fun. It’s an easier to understand system for all players, and also helps make creating builds that are clearer and more straightforward. The filters and more direct Moves options help you spend less time fiddling in the UI, and more time playing the game.

Lastly, Hongmoon levels and points are having the max level cap increased with Secrets of the Stratus. Players can now get to character level 50, Hongmoon level 20.
