More Races Planned, Gender Lock to Remain

More Races Planned, Gender Lock to Remain - Black Desert Online - MMORPG.com

Daum has published a new in-house interview with questions gleaned from the Black Desert Online community. Questions range across a wide variety of topic, most of which would be additions or alterations after the official launch of BDO next week.

One of the most asked questions is whether or not classes will remain gender locked to which Daum answered:

It is hard to give a concrete answer to this matter because we are always trying our best to create a truly fun and innovative character, rather than copying an existing one, with a sex change. Creating the same class, but a different gender, takes almost the same amount of resources as creating a completely new class. This has changed the overall direction of class development towards creating new classes, which will provide an entirely new experience for players. Currently, there is no plan to create a male version of Ranger, Sorcerer and Tamer. We might however provide a counterpart that offers a similar look and feel such as Valkyrie vs. Warrior with slight adjustments to fit its nature.

Other questions cover topics as far flung as whether or not new races will be added (undecided but definitely on the table), whether or not a dedicated healer class will be added (doubtful since classes can choose a more supporting, healing role already); NA/EU region-specific content (with particular regard to PvP it is likely if suggested by the community); and many more.

You can read the full interview on the Black Desert Online forum.
