A new video featuring Battle of the Immortals Product Manager Jonathan Belliss has also been released. In the video, Jonathan describes some of the things that have been improved in the game, as well as what features testers can expect to find in the upcoming Closed Beta test. Check out the video here.

One key point that stood out for me in the video is Jonathan Belliss' discussion of how the game's item shop has changed from the game's Chinese version to the Western version. I am sure many of you who are a bit skeptical over the microtransaction issue will appreciate Perfect World Entertainment's stance as far as Battle of the Immortals goes:

Jonathan Belliss: In China, the cash shop in B.O.I. is centered around paying for power, and that's something we've come to learn that North American gamers kind of hate. So, we've really restructured the way that it works. One example of this is that in Battle of the Immortals there are these gems that you can socket into your gear, that drastically affect the statistical power or functionality of your equipment.

Now, these gems, in North America, you won't be able to purchase them in the cash shop. They'll actually be available through natural gameplay, drops from monsters, instances, dungeons, so on and so forth.

We've really done our due dilligence, we've done our homework, and we've come to learn and know that while North American gamers, they are comfortable with the idea or concept of paying for convenience, they're not comfortable with paying for power, and we've really revised the way the game monetizes around that concept.
