It hasn’t been a great year for NEW games in the MMO genre. But it sure was a pretty great year for veteran MMOs. So while we look forward to the crop of big Indie releases in 2018 and 2019, let’s look back at 2017 and count our blessings for the games that keep on pumping out great content. These were voted on by all staff, single vote only, and no ties were allowed. Some were close, but a winner was chosen in each category! Here is MMORPG.com’s Best of 2017 Awards.
MOST ANTICIPATED MMO - Ashes of Creation
To say that Ashes of Creation has got our hopes up would be an understatement. Intrepid Studios’ vision and passion for the genre is the kind of thing we love to see, and the team’s recent Alpha Test streams show a lot of promise. 2018 (or early 2019?) are looking like a banner year for the Indie MMOs, and Ashes is leading the hype train. Choo. Choo.
MOST ANTICIPATED RPG - Monster Hunter World
It came down to Anthem and Monster Hunter World, and the staff leaned towards Capcom’s open world Action RPG. With fantastic visuals, some great online play, and tons of crafting and looting to be had, Monster Hunter World should be grand when it lands on PC, PS4, and XB1 in 2018.
