Finalists for PvP: EVE Online and World of WarCraft

Amid a swirl of controversy, EVE Online was entered into a run-off and won the 2005 award for Favorite PvP Experience. Now, in 2006, we ask if it still stacks up or if a new experience has swooped in to take charge of this most hardcore of award categories. When voting in this category, please take in consideration the underlying mechanics, the ways the game encourages fun PvP, performance and obviously your own personal opinion.

Your initial round brought us down to two. Last year's winner EVE Online and the ever-popular challenger World of Warcraft. No other games received a significant portion of the vote. Can WoW dethrone the champ in this category? You decide.

Which finalist provided your favorite PvP experience in 2006?

74.0% » EVE Online
26.0% » World of Warcraft

The Finalists

EVE Online, CCP Games

PvP is EVE. This game has massive alliances, fleet battles to break any PC and a player-driven political system the likes of which has never been seen in any online game. As the game grows, so too does their vote totals. Will it be enough to fight off the 800lbs gorilla in the MMO genre?

World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment

World of Warcraft's PvP is loved by some and hated by others. Once you get through the queue though, the new Battlegrounds provide some options for players beyond what was initially presented. In a game about loot and gear, PvP pride is something to strive for and it seems like 7-million people are striving. Can they out vote EVE?
