ASTA will be expanding on May 31st with the Wrath of the Berserkers update that will bring lots of new content to players. We had the opportunity to speak with Webzen Assistant Producer Pierre Vandenbroucke to learn more.

MMORPG: Can you give us a brief overview of just what Myth I: Wrath of the Berserkers entails?

Pierre Vandenbroucke: ‘Myth I: Wrath of the Berserkers’ is a very important milestone for ASTA: it is our first major expansion, bringing a lot of additional content. But we also decided to make it the official release of the game! When Myth I goes live, on May 31st, the Beta test phase will be over. Of course it doesn’t mean the game is finished, MMOs always evolve, but it’s an important step. One of the key-features of that expansion is the increase of the level caps: character level, PvP experience, fame, crafting… Players will get very busy. But if you are looking for something new, maybe you want to start a Raksa character, with the exclusive Berserker class?

MMORPG: Along with the new level cap, are there new zones to explore?

PV: Indeed, the high-level players can now explore Wado, a new open PvP map where you can meet players from the other faction, so you will have to be always on your guard. In Wado the safer cities are pretty small, and most of the region is dedicated to PvP fights. The Public Quests will be really contested! The new Raksa characters will discover a new introduction area, Gate of Dawn.

MMORPG: What exactly do guild battles bring into the game?

PV: The Guild War is where the top 8 guilds of each server can demonstrate the power of their members. 4 guilds per faction enter this single-elimination tournament. There will be only 1 overall winner per server!

MMORPG: What sorts of new battlegrounds are there? Are they for level-capped players only?

PV: The battlegrounds start from level 10, making them available to nearly all the players. Lower-level characters will get their stats boosted so they can defend themselves against more seasoned fighters. We currently have 2 battlegrounds, offering different experiences. In the first one, Domain of the Five Elements, two teams fight for the domination of strategic points, killing opponents also help reaching the target score! In Doka Playground, our second battleground, the teams must capture an orb in the middle of the map and place it in the opposing team’s goal. First team at 3 points wins the game. We are currently thinking of new battlegrounds.

MMORPG: How does the new 7-boss room dungeon work? There are rooms for 1 player, small groups, and full 10-player raids?

PV: The Mountain of Trials is a huge Open Instance, split in different floors. Each floor contains one or two rooms players can enter, each has its own difficulty settings and a recommended party size. 5 of them are dungeons for 1 to 5 players, starting in Easy mode and up to Hard or Very Hard difficulties. The last 2 are Normal difficulty raids, intended for up to 10 players. This should offer a great challenge to all the players, whether they prefer solo play or group/raid action!

MMORPG: How is the economy effected by this new update? I assume crafting has undergone some significant changes?

PV: With the release of the expansion, a new tier of items will be made available: the crafting recipes for items level 51-55, but also all the items for the Berserkers. Players will be able to craft items that are stronger than ever! We can expect that the lower level items will get more affordable for players that want to start the adventure now.

MMORPG: Is there anything else you want to make sure our readers know?

PV: We are working hard with Polygon Games, the developers, to make the game better with each patch, update and expansion. Myth I: Wrath of the Berserkers, is a great new step, but it’s just the beginning, and there is still a lot to come! See you in-game!
