Politics, Leadership & You - A Primer Covering the Government System -

The Ashes of Creation site has been updated with a new blog post that reveals information about how players' choices will literally shape every aspect of the game. In this particular blog, more about how that comes into play with regard to camps, towns and cities is unveiled.

The post touches on a number of topics starting with the need for leaders. "Our government system is all about letting players take control of the world they make". Of course, none of this happens on the street, but within the confines of a City Hall, the most prominent and important building in any city. City leaders decide what buildings will be created, expanded or torn down. Other decisions may affect the economy, the marketplace and trade. Military and political ramifications can start here as well.

Leaders will need to decide whether to go to war or to form "bonds of cooperation" with other Nodes and finding ways to peacefully co-exist.

Each Node entering into a trade agreement can designate caravans with certain materials to be sent to the other, improving the economy of both Nodes at the same time. This will give experience to all involved, contribute to the Node’s growth and help construct buildings. Diplomatically, this can lead to more trust and perhaps even an alliance. We want the City Hall to be the place where big decisions are made for each Node. It should be where the “ruling class” comes together and decides what to do (these decisions can quickly make them the “old ruling class” too).

Of course, peace is a fleeting thing and Bonds of Cooperation can be severed at any time. How long they last will depend on the leadership in each Node.
