Ashes of Creation Team Conjures Up a Blog About Scientific Nodes

Continuing its examination of the Ashes of Creation Node System, the developers have published a new post that reveals a very specific type: Scientific Nodes. It is a node type that is "special in comparison to the others". Scientific Nodes appear in three locations throughout the game world, specifically around locations that "focus the Essence" that flows throughout. These nodes will feature "sprawling questlines and rewards for crafters, gatherers" and others.

Those who want to specialize in Artisanship and Construction mechanics will benefit from Scientific Nodes and the NPC merchants. The quests that appear will "allow specialization in the Gathering, Processing, and Crafting aspects of the Artisan system".

Progressing Scientific Nodes will yield a unique building, The Library at Level 3.

At the Village Stage, the Scientific Node’s Unique Building is the Library, which records the history of the server. Players can use the Library to access information, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • History of narrative events and when they occurred
  • Locations and last known quantity of gatherable resources
  • Locations and inhabitants of new Dungeons or POIs (Points of Interest) that have spawned
  • Runic Power Stones for armor
  • Common armor and weapon recipes (Level 25 and under)

Eventually, the building can turn into a full College at Level 4 (Town Stage), a University at Level 5 (City Stage), and an Academy at Level 6 (Metropolis Stage). Each Level achieved will unlock a variety of boons and perks for the immediate vicinity.

Of course, scholarly studies aren't all that Scientific Nodes unlock. There's always the handy dandy teleportation that can be achieved at Level 6.

Check out all of the details on the Ashes of Creation site.
