The Ashes of Creation team has a shiny new trailer today that provides and early look at the first testing environment called "Alpha Zero". The description goes on to say, "This is a Work in Progress and a rough look at what over 60 developers are hard at work preparing Ashes of Creation's Alpha Zero."

Enter Ashes of Creation. Here is a game that is marketing itself to someone in my exact shoes; people missing that wonderment and immersion and most importantly the sense of community that comes from grouping being a primary means of getting things accomplished. A part of me would love nothing more than to run into an area and should ‘camp check’ like my days of yore. Despite my own misgivings I find myself excited at the prospect - which is why I simultaneously try to and try not be.

The Ashes of Creation site has been updated with the interesting news that Bear McCreary has been signed on to compose the soundtrack for the game. McCreary is best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Defiance, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and other well-known television series and films.

The Ashes of Creation team is ready to unload a lot of treats for community members interested in taking part in Alpha Zero. A number of contests and events provide opportunities to score a key to be able to check out the game firsthand. From now through October 31st, you can take part in events like Intrepid's Costume Ball, Pumpkin Carving, Halloween Fan Art, and Horror Short Story Night. In addition, keys will be available during a Halloween live stream event.

A new blog post on the Ashes of Creation site details how grouping will function in the game. It is the first in a two part series dealing with the topic, this first post covering the basics. While soloing is viable, according to the post, the team is looking to put the "massive" back in Massive Multiplayer. As a result, base party size will be up to 8, thereby allowing "us to really amplify party roles and to create a need for each of the archetypes in every party".

Intrepid Studios has announced the start of the Ashes of Creation Summer Crowdfunding campaign to allow folks who didn't have a chance to participate in the May KickStarter a chance to back the forthcoming MMO. In addition, current KS backers can increase their pledges if they wish and be able to access new backer goals as they are unlocked.

The Ashes of Creation Kickstarter campaign has officially ended with some pretty impressive numbers. The funding initiative scored $3,271,809 in pledges from 19,576 backers. In addition, AoC backers unlocked every stretch goal planned. This far surpasses the $750,000 the team originally asked for at the start of the initiative.

Intrepid Studios is growing according to today's Ashes of Creation press announcement. Five new members have joined up that bring development experience from EverQuest to H1Z1. In addition, Panopticon Labs has been brought on board to assist the team with fraud prevention and detection mechanisms. These will be systems designed especially for Ashes of Creation.
