In the last few years there have been many new MMOs stepping up to the plate and trying to be the next big hit. Many of these have started to show the first signs of trouble early on. So, it’s within this context I approached the pre-alpha demo for Ashes of Creation; with a fair bit of apprehension and a side of cynicism. I am quite happy to say the demo exceeded all my expectations for what a MMO in pre-Alpha can be.

If you're heading to PAX East next weekend, you'll be able to stop by the Intrepid Studios booth to see what's new in the pre-alpha build of Ashes of Creation. Fans will be able to ask their burning questions and maybe even score some swage and alpha zero keys.

As the Friends & Family Alpha 0 event gets underway, the Ashes of Creation site has been updated with a chart that reveals all of the classes available in the game. Players will choose a base class (Fighter, Tank, Rogue, Ranger, Mage, Summoner, Cleric or Bard) and later in the game a secondary class will become available. Each secondary brings a unique way to play the game. "A Warden must feel uniquely different from a Spell Hunter & a Beastmaster must feel unique when partnered with a Necro".

Ashes of Creation is ready to kick off a Friends & Family event (Alpha Zero) over the coming weekend. In addition, the team is preparing for more alpha and beta events throughout 2018. Intrepid also announced the pre-order program "storefront" that brings special packages to fans.

Politics and MMORPGs aren’t things that usually mix well. Every game that tries to bring the player run cities and politics to the gaming world usually ends up with a bunch of toxic people running around killing anything they can get their hands on. It is this reason alone that I am a little wary of the City Hall concept in the upcoming MMORPG Ashes of Creation.

The Ashes of Creation site has been updated with a new blog post that reveals information about how players' choices will literally shape every aspect of the game. In this particular blog, more about how that comes into play with regard to camps, towns and cities is unveiled.

The Ashes of Creation developers are hoping to make it more; to make it feel like a tavern should: alive. Read on to find out how they plan to accomplish this feat.
