The ArcheAge site has an important announcement for its player base: Server merges, or Evolution, are coming. Understanding that many players may be concerned over the loss of land that an Evolution brings, the team has published an FAQ to outline each player's options and what servers will be affected. Legacy servers are not affected by the Evolution.
Players on Evolution-affected servers have two options:

Move to a high-population server for free. This is a one time transfer of all characters to another server in the region not affected by Evolution. This can be done between August 16-29, 2017 and server transfers are first come, first served. The caveat is:
- "The downside to choosing this option is the limitations of the transfer system: transferred characters cannot be part of a guild, castles and nations cannot be transferred, and all items to be transferred must fit within a character’s inventory and warehouse. Placed properties must be demolished or kitted before transfer."
- Keep characters on the affected server and be part of the Evolution process. This will, of course, mean that all players will arrive without land, resulting in a "land rush" at the start. However, the compensation package "is more complete". Players will not lose Guilds, Families or Nations, for instance.
