After Days Of Counting Down, Gamigo Reveals Archeage Unchained -

After days and days of counting down with tidbits of info being fed to eager players, Gamigo have finally revealed what the timer was all about. ArcheAge's developer revealed that ArcheAge: Unchained will be releasing, this time with a buy-to-play model.

Details on the website give us a little more details as to what ArcheAge: Unchained will entail and how it will differ from the free-to-play version already in existence.

From a forum post on Archeage's website:

In ArcheAge: Unchained there is no longer a subscription model. With a onetime purchase, you can enjoy the content as often as you want. You will be able to purchase vanity items via Credits and we will implement seasonal ArchePasses. We are focusing on fairer gameplay which is why we decided to change a few monetization features for ArcheAge: Unchained. There’ll be more information in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned!

As a result of this, both the F2P and B2P models will exist concurrently, though there won't be any cross play or ability to transfer characters between the two.

As ArcheAge: Unchained has a different business model, it will be implemented like a new game with a new server environment. There will be no transfer of items or characters between the already existing version and ArcheAge: Unchained. Credits can only be used where they have been bought.

In ArcheAge: Unchained everyone starts fresh! There will be no additional bonus if you switch from the F2P version. It’s all about your skills, your dedication and the decisions that you make!

Additionally, since it's a buy-to-play model, there will be no subscription for the new ArcheAge: Unchained when it launches. Everyone, according to the FAQ posted, will have the "same amount of Labor regeneration and a cap of 5,000 Labor Points." Housing will also be open for anyone who plays ArcheAge: Unchained.

We'll have to wait and see as the team releases more information in the coming days and weeks, but it's interesting to see what could essentially be described as a "do over" for the ArcheAge team. What are your thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments!
