If you're the type who both loves the cold and fishing, ArcheAge has something just for you. North American players can now start participating in the Miroir Tundra Ice Fishing Festival that began today and will run through February 14th. EU players will be able take part starting tomorrow.

From now through January 30th, ArcheAge players can take part in the Fortune Event. Players at level 40+ can head to Mirage Island to start a quest that begins with creating dumplings using Pairan's own recipe. Once done, she'll hand over a fortune cookie that provides an hour-long buff and has the chance to contain other cookies, each with some pretty great treats inside.

With today's big Maelstrom update to ArcheAge, a lot of players are looking to dive back into the game. Trion has everyone covered with a spiffy new "Homecoming Warrior Gear" set that will be available from today through January 11th. Beginners can grab the Maelstrom Beginner Bundle for free that contains a plethora of goodies. Players level 50+ can score the Maelstrom Homecoming Bundle for a single gold piece.

As Trion prepares to launch Maelstrom into the live game, a new DDoS attack is underway. The team is working to mitigate the issue and will be updating the thread on the official forums with progress to that end.

Since these changes we have seen a little less of Khrolan on Trion Worlds Friday Twitch livestreams so I wanted to spend a little more time catching up with Merv Lee Kwai and seeing if we could share any more news relevant to 4.0 and the future of ArcheAge while also getting to know him a little more.

Two weeks ago, we caught up with the Trion Worlds, Archeage Producer Amanda “Amary” Fry and Seraphina “Celestrata” Brennan (Associate Producer) in preparation for a December 6th ArcheAge 4.0 Maelstrom launch that got pushed back to December 13th ensuring a solid build. Today Senior Producer, Merv “Khrolan” Lee Kwai also took much appreciated time to answer further question which you can find also on MMORPG but warning, there might be spoilers!

XLGames will be releasing a "remastered" version of ArcheAge in Korea in January. The remastered AA will only be available on a brand new server called Orchidnia and is based on "five years of experience operating ArcheAge". XLG also seems to hint that this could be more widely released as "a new beginning for ArcheAge", though no specific information was given about future deployments of the remaster.

The latest ArcheAge Producer's Letter has been published that reveals a brand new commitment from the team to "look at what we can improve [on] in everything we do". This includes direct communication from XLGames about, for instance, specific changes to game systems and the reasons behind it.

The next major ArcheAge update is v4.0. We now know that it is called "Maelstrom" and will be launching in both North America and Europe on December 6th. Anchoring the update are a number of improvements and additional features including a reworked Gem system, an open world raid finder, updates to crafting and the addition of Bloodsalt Bay, a naval PvP arena.

If you'd like to take a version of the ArcheAge game world on the road with you, yesterday's launch announcement for ArcheAge Begins should make you quite happy. The mobile game is now available for both iOS and Android devices and brings with it its own unique brand of game play set in the same universe as the ArcheAge MMO, though not set in the same timeline.

Hallowtide will be kicking off in ArcheAge starting on Tuesday, October 24th and running through Tuesday, November 7th. During Hallowtide, players can take part in a number of events including the search for treats, smashing pumpkins and battling the dead in both Two Crowns and the Solis Headlands. Doing so yields tokens that can be traded for a metric ton of stuff that includes cosmetic items, furniture, Merit Badges, Companions' Growthstones and more.

Trion Worlds has announced that ArcheAge players will be able to enjoy a "triple everything" weekend starting today and running through September 25th. The special event is in celebration of the game's third anniversary.

It's time to put on your party shoes as ArcheAge is ready to celebrate its third anniversary starting September 14th. The party will continue through October 18th and will include a "0-credit claim" that will yield a ton of fun stuff once per account.

Starting at 12:00 pm Pacific / 3:00 pm Eastern today, ArcheAge North American servers will be taken down to complete the server merger process called "Evolutions". The plan is that NA servers will be back up on September 9th at approximately 4:00 pm Pacific / 7:00 pm Eastern. EU servers have been down for about an hour and will be brought back up on September 9th sometime between 2:00 and 6:00 pm UTC.

During this week's Gamescom in Germany, Trion Worlds revealed a brand new trailer for ArcheAge 4.0. Called Conquer Bloodsalt Bay, the trailer gives a brief look at the nautically-themed content where players will be able to dominate the seas, take on other scallawags and battle fierce undersea creatures.
