Kakao Games and XLGames made a surprise announcement during today's Sony State of Play, showcasing a new trailer for its upcoming ArcheAge sequel, now known as ArcheAge Chronicles.
The back and forth for ArcheAge 2's planned release seems to point to more delays, as indicated in Kakao Games' latest financials.
According to Kakao Games' most recent financial report, ArcheAge 2, which was aiming for closed beta this year, won't launch until sometime after 2025.
ArcheAge 2 is still on the way, with reveals and closed beta later in 2024. Kakao Games has an eye on Western audiences and a shift in focus from large-scale faction PvP to something more group and PvE-oriented.
ArcheAge 2 is indeed coming, as Kakao Games and XLGames confirmed today in a joint press release. The upcoming sequel to was first announced back in 2020 and confirmed to be running on Unreal Engine 5.
Announced via the Korean gaming media (via MMOCulture), Jake Song officially announced ArcheAge 2 was in the works. Also announced was the upcoming Korean MMO would utilize Epic's latest Unreal Engine 5 technology to build the game.
